I'm getting code 40 and 41 (system stop in and system stop out) several times a minute... Sometimes it doesn't seem to affect the wash (maybe it resets to 41 fast enough?) and other times it shuts down the wash. I'm not able to head down there until tomorrow to inspect the stop buttons, wiring, etc. Just wondering if anyone has run into this before and has another other ideas. I would expect a code 40 to always lead to a wash stopping...

It means that the emergency stop button was pushed in, and then pulled out. It could be on the UCC, or more likely, on the joystick box. If the button is pushed in, and pulled back out quick enough, ( a couple of seconds), the wash will continue. If it is left i pushed in any longer, the machine will shut off, and go through it.s start up tests. If no one is actually pushing the buttons, I would check all wiring in the estop circuit.

Rick at washworld recommended to me many years ago to to bypass the stop button out on the joystick. Just open up the joystick box, disconnect the stop button, and wire nut both wires connected to it together. This will eliminate anyone being able to mess with your stop button while you aren't there.

Thanks for the replies! For anyone else who happens across this thread in the future, our problem was that we were having many stop warnings during washes while we were watching -- so no one was touching either stop button. We tried wiring around the stop button in the bay thinking that water may have gotten to it, but no luck. After some investigating, I discovered a loose wire to the relay for the stop (near the middle of the main panel). Wiggling that wire, such as the vibration from a nearby pump running, was sometimes enough to click the relay on and off. Removed, cleaned, and reinserted the wire and the problem is gone. :)
