Just wondering what everybody is paying for water & sewer. My rate is about $11.15 per 1000 gallons. The DPW raises one rate or the other every 6 to 8 months. the sewer comes out to be 2.5 times the cost of water.

Here in north Fl. my most recent bill was $10.87 per 1,000 gal. It is split 38/62 water to sewer.

In 1997 when I started tracking utility cost details, water + sewer was $3.72 / 1000gal.
In 2013 I paid $13.50 / 1000 gallons.
Another increase coming in a month or 2, I've heard 20%.
[biting sarcasm] But dont worry people, I've been assured there is no inflation so no need to worry. Move along, nothing to see here. [/biting sarcasm]

I have the pleasure of owning a wash in Jefferson County Alabama. A bunch of corrupt politicians got together with contractors and designed a Taj Mahal Sewer system. Most of them went to jail. but the public still has to pay for the system they built. I'm currently paying 16.70 per 1000 gallons, with projected increases in sewer over the next few years to bring the total to over $20. That's 2.00 per car for water/sewer alone on a top touch free wash.

I am a little late to the discussion, but we are facing rising waste water rates due to a new treatment plant. To combat this, I have petitioned the city seeking relief due to the evaporation and carry off of water. I used the report published by the ICA (International Car Wash Association) and the city took it seriously. We are still negotiating and I can't report that I have gotten any relief, but at least they are willing to discuss. Here is a link to the report if it is of any help.

At my wash we pay $1.18 per 1,000 gallons plus a base charge of $16.00 for the meter and a flat $400 per month for the sewer.
