ShurVend skipped last year’s show in Las Vegas and reluctantly have decided to skip this year’s show in San Diego also. Exhibiting this year became a business decision where the costs became too high for the number contacts made at the booth. There are many other avenues for the advertising of our products and communication with our customers that are more cost effective than exhibiting in a booth. The AutoCareForum is one of them along with our web site and the SSCWN publication.

I have seen with some concern that the operator attendance numbers at the regional shows has been declining over the past 5 years or so. I have communicated my concerns about the declining numbers with the WCA staff and with members of the Board of Directors. The changes in the San Diego Show format are a step in the right direction and hopefully that will turn attendance numbers in a positive direction. If that happens this year, then exhibiting will again become a cost effective way to advertise our products and keep in contact with our customers.

I will be attending the WCA show as an operator and walking the exhibit floor looking for new ideas and product like everyone else. Hopefully I will see many of the friends that ShurVend has made over the years so we can “chew the fat” with them.
