Weird Motor/Pump issue

Customer starts using a high pressure function and about 2-3 mins into washing their vehicle the motor abruptly stops and starts a couple of times then runs fine, it's doing it in all of my 3 bays, could belt tension have something to do with it?

The motor actually stops? That shouldn't have anything to do with belt tension.

Maybe you just lose pressure and the motor keeps running. That sounds more plausible.

I highly doubt that belt tension would have anything to do with your problem if all 3 bays have just started doing the same thing. It sounds like it’s an electrical problem. Without being there to hear or see what it’s doing it’s like shooting in the dark. I’d check the electrical connections on the pump stand/motor starter first. Do the timers shut off when it stops?

Not sure what equipment you have but if your fresh water tank is empty because of a hydrominder malfunction or an obstruction this will happen. It's happened to my Coleman Super Saver a couple times.

THANK YOU! that just reminded me that there is a safety shutoff inside the hot water tank that will shut down the motors in case there is no water and it's only a plastic switch. And if you happen to look at a Ryko Signature Series system it is the same design as a Jim Coleman Super Saver system

That could very well be your problem. Low wate rlevel shut off switch failing/problem or low water level

I drained the tank to find the float switch was coated in small metal shavings because the switch is magnetic, thank god I have mesh strainers on all of the pump intakes, vacuumed out the whole tank and trying to trace down where the small shavings came from.

Thanks for the update. I wonder where the metal filings are coming from. We drain and clean out all of our tanks about every 6 months or so.
