wheel/tire cleaner frustrations

I have a solenoid that is leaking. I changed it out with a different one(used also) and the problem did not go away. I disassembled both solenoids and cleaned thoroughly with water and air. I closely inspected the surface of the seating area and it appeared to be fine. The solenoids are KIP 24vac. Any ideas? I'm at my wits end!

Check the Plunger. Why don't you just buy a new KIP Valve? They are only about $25. Or you can get a repair kit from Kleen-Rite they are about $15.

I already planned on that. I was hoping there was just something I was missing so that I could get this bay back up and running. With it being the weekend, I won't get the parts until early next week.

Make sure you installed the "new" one flowing the correct way.

If it's brass, it could have eroded through somewhere besides the seat.

I had the same problem with presoak leaking. I finally got a little screen filter from Kleen Rite and put it in the line from the tank to the valve. Haven't had an issue since. I know this doesn't fix your immediate problem but once you get the valve to stop leaking you should be good. You may be able to get a new solenoid valve from Grainger or an electrical supply store nearby.

Mep: Are you saying that the brass manifold could have eroded through? I can't for the life of me figure out what the deal is and it is only occuring in one bay. I am going to try and switch the manifold over and see if that fixes it.

***crosses fingers***

Do you have the Kip manifold with the stainless solenoid cartridge? If so, remove the cartridge and look at the brass and the o-rings that make the seal.

Mep: What are the two smaller holes that are above and below where the solenoid threads in? I checked the brass and visually I don't see anything that would lead me to believe that it is defective. I ordered new solenoids, but I don't think I will get them until Monday. I am going to try one more solenoid in the morning that I know is good and then if that doesn't work, I will try and change out the solenoid.

Forgot the camera again....changed out the manifold with a different one and we are all good. I am going to bring the old manifold home tonight and inspect it and post some pics. Thanks for all the help!

That's where the air or liquid flows into the cartridge.
