Most people don't pay these so called eco friendly people much heed, but you should. They are costing you money in ways you don't know about. I have a friend who is a senior engineer with Ben and Jerry's ice cream. He told me how the freaking PETA people protested their use of egg whites that were procured from factory chickens rather than free range chickens. Egg whites are used in the ice cream. So Ben and Jerry, being good stewards of the land changed suppliers. The free range stuff costs about 5 times more, and doesn't have the consistent quality of the factory chickens. So you pay more. Light bulbs are another good example. Our imperial government thinks incandescent bulbs are bad, so in a year or two, they will be illegal. Everyone will be forced to use compact flourescent ones that cost 5 times more, and contain mercury. And did I mention that they are made in China? That lovely place that sent us poisioned dog food and drywall. The list could go on and on. Someone needs to start growing a backbone and stand up to these idiots. As for me, I have a way of dealing with PETA protestors when I encounter them. It will not change their minds, but it might make them think twice about bothering ordinary citizens.

Mac,

PETA has gone way overboard! Their people continue to protest about things they don't truly understand. They've been protesting about the seal harvest up here for years and even managed to get an EU ban! All based on mis-information. For example, the always show white coats (pup seals) being slaughtered. This practice was ceased in the 70s. I know a few sealers and they hate leaving the pups after the adults have been harvested, as they will most certainly die of hunger in the following week and will cry (sound like human babies) until they are too weak. It breaks their hearts.

So Peta has succeeded in almost stopping the hunt, now on the east coast they'll need a cull to try and control the population explosion! They are voracious eaters and consume large amounts of cod that are endangered from mostly spanish over fishing.

The issue is that these people have a disconnect between what we kill and consume. If you kill an animal, you have certain feelings towards having taken its life and so these fishermen make sure is wasn't for nothing and so use almost every part of the seal. That is respect for nature.

The leaders of these people have an agenda, destroy capitalism, which has nothing to do with the issue. The leaders are in the same camp as the President. The blind followers don't have a clue.

Bill,

Yeah your right, I just expect more from some of the bozos who back these dumb ideas. We had Paul McCartney on national TV with his wife doing a PR stint against sealing. It became quickly clear that he and his wife didn't have a clue what they were fighting against. They didn't even clearly understand where they were physically standing! He dumper her shortly after.

Another example was a PETA anti-sealing demonstration in our capital a couple of years ago. I have a Newfoundland friend who has a beautiful seal fur coat. She walk several times in front of the demonstration and even talked to some of them...not even one person knew that it was seal fur! Very funny and quite telling!

I saved a copy of our local paper from the day after 9/11. I wanted to keep it as a reminder. Much to my surprise in that edition was a story, with pictures, of a local chapter of Save the Manatees. They were having a demonstration showing compassion for the animals that were killed accidently Nine of these bungholes were laying on the ground in body bags. This was on 9/12 when 3,000 of our citizens were buried in the rubble of the twin towers. Compassion for dumb animals. No compassion for fellow humans killed by terrorists.

PETA can get violent and be very destructive. When I lived in Tucson they broke into a medical lab at the university and let all the animals go. Some of those animals had been exposed to highly contagious dangerous viruses as part of the program. They also threatened to bomb where my wife worked because they did business with a group of doctors that were involved in animal experiments. Once again endangering human beings as opposed to animals.

Just like the anti-abortionist, and other extremist, they can justify anything, even violence or killing someone that doesn't agree with them, does the word terrorist ring a bell?
