WW O' Motor

Does any one have a source for gears for the gear box on an oscillating motor? I have a good motor and a bad gear box. I repaired the bearings in my last one, but now the worm gear is worn in one spot mainly from the grease in the box drying up! I think these things are really built sorry! The last drive gear box that quit, I took apart and it apparently never had a key in the key way!

A couple of years ago the guy that worked for me also worked at his son’s heavy transmission repair shop. They repaired gearboxes for all industries, well drilling equipment, Military equipment, obsolete transmissions for old trucks etc. I gave him the gearbox from PDQ Laser 4000 that needed to be rebuild they searched the internet, called countless suppliers and no parts were available. They opened it up and found that was designed to fail, very poorly made. I’ll never forget to words he used, “Junk from the factory designed to fail”

I agree

After taking apart several of these, of the drive motors and gear boxes, I think that baldor builds crap! It might be better if it were made in china, mexico, where ever!!!!!! They should be built like John Deere Tractors!!!!!:)

You can order the gears if you know the part #'s. There was a previous post where this info was noted. I have ordered and installed new gears based on what was in that post. Usually it is the gears that go, not the motor. Try a search. I will look up the part #'s later today and post them.

There is a thread that started on 6-10-10 in the Jim Coleman section that has all the details and some great pictures of the Osc. gearbox and rebuild kit.

cfcw has a link to the info and I believe the numbers are mentioned in several posts, one of them mine. I will still dig out the part numbers that I have.

found it

I found the part numbers and the diagram, thanks! If anyone has an old motor an gear box, please dont throw them away, I bet someone would want it!! Can you buy the whole gear box from baldor, or just the gears?

gear box parts

I ordered the parts today from a baldor motor dealer in Austin Texas, it will be 10 days at least because they have to machine them, as they are not in stock, the price for the shaft, both gears is going to be $75 plus shipping.
