PDQ vs. Washworld?

I am interested in purchasing a new touchless automatic. I have narrowed it down to Washworld and PDQ's G5 units. I have heard and read many good things about Washworld's product, but we do not have a dealer in our area, although we do have a good PDQ dealer. I would really appreciate some input from people who have used these machines with some pros and cons for each.

Also, has anyone tried a G5 with PDQ's advanced flow option?

Interesting that you have narrowed it to the Washworld and the PDQ G5 and not the PDQ 4000 or 4000 with the M5 enhancement. I have found that once potential investors are happy with the distributor for two or three machines (if they are lucky enough to have that many options), they then focus on the type of machine i.e. gantry/inverted L/zero degree nozzles etc.

Althought both the Washworld and PDQ you mentioned are inverted L machines, they have different water impingement technologies. The G5 with the turbos and the Washworld with the v-jets. I know more people who prefer the 4000's or 4000's with M5 over the G5's. But that is just my experience with other operators I know. There are probably many people who will tell you just the opposite, but it is worth checking out. I personally do not own either machine.

I am not telling you to choose PDQ, just suggesting that you may want to incude their other machine as a potential option, as it is closer to the Washworld machine you are considering. Above all - get the machine that gives you the BEST distributor/service possible.

Couple questions? do you consider yourself an investor or operator? Secondly can you rely on yourself 24/7 to maintain and keep either machine or both running? Thirdly is the distributor important to you for more than just purchasing the machine? in other words does it matter to you if they ever step foot on your property once the machine is installed and running? Answer those and I will take my reply from there, I have both machines also!

Thank you for your replies. I am an ower/operator and we do a great deal of our own servicing on our existing washes (converyor and self-service). The distributor would be important as far as warrenty claims, updates of the machine and if there were a time that I couldn't get to the machine for repair in an emergency.

To answer the first person's observation as to why I didn't include an M5 unit in my decision process - I really like Wash World's virtual attendant, v-jet nozzels and great reputation. So while I have nothing really against a M5, I tend to lean towards a Wash World unit. The G5 inerests me because of it's modern design, lower enery and water usage and automatic re-set system.

Then, definitely wash world. The arch impact issue is finally addressed with virtual attendant and the simplicity compared to G5 is unreal. You wont be disappointed with their company!

The M5 has auto reset...as previously mentioned, the distributor is a more important desicion than the machine at this point.

Thank you Tobaccofarmer. Can you expand futher on the pros and cons of each machine (G5 vs. WW) since you own both. Specifically, if you can, address these issues - bug removal, water usage, electricity, customer preference (does one get used more than the other), time of maintenace required on each machine, & machine longevity.

We'd also appreciate any inpute by G5 & WW owners.

I own neither. However, I was impressed with washworld at the ICA show, mainly due to price vs. quality. I could replace my IBA today (but have no need to) for short $$. I'd get all I have now, plus virtual treadle and fast wash times.
