Just came back from the Heartland Car Wash show and was kinda disappointed in the number of vendors this year I had hoped for more but oh well, I did have a chance to talk with Troy Diskin from Air Shammee and got some good info on why his system is the way to go but my only concern would be the gun how well does it hold up? we are talking plastic here not metal with a rubber coating like others I've seen, and being some of my customers don't have the intelligence to put the gun back in the holder they just throw it on the ground and leave which really p**ses me off just looking for some feedback on this.

Hey Steve, we have the air shamee' s in three bays. This one here. mounted in the attic which I recommend because they are fairly loud with 3 motors.. We've had them about 3-4 years now, have only had a couple motors go out and no other problems.

The trigger handle is strong. Each one is still the original gun with no problems. It's not just plastic, its thermoplastic, very strong. I haven't tried running it over yet but..

The air stream is directed where you want it in a stream... It gets used quite a bit by our customers. More time in Bay thats for sure. Average use is probably a min. to a min. and a half, up to 3min. . if I had to guess, and that is a guess.

I think the Air Shammee is the way I will go or maybe I'll just have a gas powered leaf blower in each bay attached to a chain LOL.

Looks like the Air Shammee is a 3 blower 113CFM each. Just buy http://www.homedepot.com/p/Ryobi-135-mph-440-CFM-8-Amp-Electric-Jet-Fan-Blower-RY42102/206468471 it as a 440 CFM 110v. you would need a boom and hose and gun
the gun 93.00, Boom 233.00, 110V relay 25.00,blower 39.00 Hose 50.00 total 440.00 put in 4 bays 1760.00 if you have old FB booms take off 932.00 total cost 828.00 for 4 bays. Just might try it. There 3 blowers produce 336CFM One electric blower 440CFM ?

It would be worth a try, but I'm sure with the loss through a hose there wouldn't be near the airflow that a 2- or 3-motor dryer would deliver to the customer.

The duty cycle spec would be an issue. Of course you could get the 2 year protection plan for $7.00. Would be interesting to see how often they would replace it.

Also can't help but wonder that what the units use what are really designed as vacuum motors as Blower motors and if things designed to blow might do a better job. Forgot what I was talking about , but someone commented on something that they used. Whirlpool tub blowers for something.

Unit linked shows 1.28amps. HVAC blowers are designed to opperate with very little restriction. The back pressure of trying to force the air thru a 2" hose would burn up the motor pretty quickly if the internal motor fuse didn't trip.

Just for s**ts & giggles I hooked up a 2" vac hose to my ryobi gas leaf blower and a tapered nozzle on the end and it worked like a charm.

Probably more power than 3 vacuum motors, I would like a little more power myself, but this is a safe level for customers I guess. You never know what they are going to do with it.

The pain would be going into the attic to fill up the gas. Lol.

Carolina Pride Sells TurboDry 2 which uses a single 3 phase 4 HP motor , has anyone tired this unit ?

Well I just called them. 2700.00 a bay. Holy s:/t. Asked how many CFM. They said they will never give out get info.

It's sad to say but my Ryobi leaf blower is still more powerful then the Air Shammee and J.E Adams Hot air dryer.

So you actually did locate the Ryobi far enough away from the water ... which would mean there is a ways for the air to travel vs just holding the Ryobi (motor & all) in your hands drying the vehicle???

Gonna bump this back up to the top. I looked at several units at the show. Does anyone have input on triggered nozzle by diskin vs non triggered?


I like the idea of having the units attic mounted for lower noise, but cringe at the thought of maintenance six months out of the year when my attic would be "rather warm". I also have eight foot partition walls between the bays so I would have to mount them on posts and (this is a personal thing) the round domes just don't look attractive to me. Air logic has a system with with a square poly dome at $1190 per bay when you buy three or more. Their gun does not have a trigger but they insist that's no problem.

Diskin does have a 3HP motor with blower setup. The 3HP motor should be trouble free in the attic and that would give the best of both worlds. He quoted $1850 per bay for those units bought in multiples. As cheap as I am, I like the idea but am still kicking it around.

Eric, didn't you DIY your system? It seems like you can buy the booms and nozzles from Kleen rite and build your own. I wonder what the savings is? If I attic mount I don't want a dome that just gets in the way

ETA: looks like I could DIY for roughly $750 in parts. Just fab a mounting plate and buy almost everything else off the shelf from KR.

Finally, I wonder if you could take an old 10 or 15HP blower motor off an IBA, install a VFD, and build your own? Just a crazy thought.
