Other than securing the auto cashier more securely, what can be done to prevent this? The tow chain hook was hooked onto the door panel inside the coin return cup. Even with a more securely anchored acw the damage to the door would be severe.
There isn’t really a hell of a lot you can do to prevent them from jerking the ACW out of its enclosure. I’m surprised that that little Subaru could pull it out of the brick enclosure. But then it probably wasn’t installed very well. We use 6”x ½” bolts on all 4 sides and then pour concrete into the void. The only problem is they’ll pull the door off, still ruins the ACW. It really sucks!!!!
We're the side walls of the ACW secured from inside into the brick? From the video, it looks like the AVW was just mortared into the brick housing. My ACW is mounted onto and secured additionally with welds. Plus I have bollards surrounding the ACW ...so far so good.
They have laws against that where my washes are. LOL
Install lots of bollards, islands, walls or just install it next to a drop off. I have a WS2 door in my basement that someone opened for me. But what makes me angry about any vandalism is the guy steals a car and probably got $25 in quarters max.
If you read the comments for the video.... the solution is there: "If coin machines are replaced with card readers, then this type of crime would go away."
Not a whole lot you can do to prevent that type of crime. The guy looked suspicious as f*ck, but it only took him seconds to do the damage. It's a big risk they take for a very small amount of money.
Lights, Lights, Lights and cameras everywhere, every angle possible. I have 5 cameras on my autoteller, 2 tag cameras in every bay to get tags from both sides a tag camera on my clearance bar for automatic and my lot looks like a car dealership at night. If they want it bad enough they will take it!!! Sorry for your damage caused. It was interesting how it seemed as though he knew where to pull the unit to be off the cameras view.
The only thing that would prevent this "hook and yank" scenario would be to weld angle iron around the opening on the inside which would prevent them from being able to hook or grab anything with a tow chain hook. Perp in this case stole a car and used a tow chain with a hook on the end to slip it into and grab the door panel and yanked with the stolen car. The other car in the video is his accomplice. Maybe that angle iron welded to the inside wouldn't allow that hook to be "hooked" onto that panel.

You know.... I actually have something like your describing welded into one of my units. The way the coins are dispensed and the coin return.... was built up then they welded across which would prevent any entry. (That is how my unit is welded.) The welding was for a different reason though.
