Video can't solve all

You can't fix stupid Earl. Let them threaten all they want. Any reasonable person knows it's not a good idea to run the wipers going through a car wash. If they post negative things on social media respond to the ones you can in a thoughtful manner. Anyone who isn't smart enough to not run the wipers is probably not very well respected in the cyber world either.

I've been bashed online before. It hasn't seemed to affect my business.

Most people reading a negative post will consider the source.

Some people go through life looking to blame others for all bad things that happen to them, whether or not they themselves were at fault.

I agree. Go look up Mike's Carwash facebook page. We all know Mike's is a solid legit operation, their aggregate review score is like a 3.2 or something, TONS of 1 star reviews about all of the same things we all deal with. But that review score isn't hurting them any...

This is one of the reasons I do not do facebook or any other social media. I deal with enough idiots face to face on a daily basis. I surely will not waste a minute on some idiot hiding behind their keyboard. In my opinion, social media does little, if anything, to help a car wash.

What about the wipers where automatic wipers (they sensed water from the car wash and turned on)? So it is actually the manufacturer's fault? Sue the car manufacturer for not having a "car wash" function or for not properly training their new car owners? I see a class action lawsuit! LOL :)

Really? :) Here are some answers for why you need to run your windshield wipers.

Did you see the one alleged operator on the site who said they would cover then damage?

Social media is very different from sites like Yelp. With the latter you can't do anything about a bad review except go in as owner/manager and reply trying to resolve the issue. With Facebook you can delete their negative post or just block them altogether.

If you are not paying FB I really doubt anyone is seeing any post from your page anyway.

Also, Mep1 missed BBB.... but I believe they use extortion to get a better score? Not for sure though? :)

I did read all the "answers".... it is always interesting how people come up with different methods of doing something. I thought it unfortunately sounds like an employee response.

You can get traffic on Facebook without paying them.

I've heard a number of stories about the BBB using extortion tactics, and I've had them call me up and tell me that if I didn't start paying them a monthly fee they'd automatically give us an F rating.

Had them call me and say they had people call them wanting to come to me but they wouldn't because I was not a BBB member.

So the premise is.... Before a customer comes to your business they check the BBB website or call them? Your business is not listed.... So the customer is angry!? So the customer calls the BBB to complain? LOL :)

According to the BBB search there are 6201 "Car Wash & Polish" in Birmingham, AL.... 13 actually are "bbb accredited businesses".

True.... but you can not just post on your follower's feeds anymore.

Same location. Different person. New BMW but her report says "Wipers engaged while going thru wash and brushes damaged them" I could find on line that the BMW owners manual instructs to turn rain sensing wipers off before using an automatic car wash. Anyone able to find if mercedes does the same?

I searched through the first Mercedes manual and didn't find any mention of turning off the automatic wipers in a car wash.
