The above SQUARE NUT for a Hamilton Changer for each of their locks could be the same one that Standard uses on their heavy duty SC series ChangeMaker fortress like cabinets. Anybody ... hint Randy ... know for a fact that it is the same nut? The Standard brand is about 1/2" thick & has internal 1/2"-13 coarse thread.

Last time a machine shop friend made us one ... now another one of these special nuts threads stripped out on us.

The nut in the Hamilton machines are ½”. I’m about 99% certain Standard uses the same nut. Those nuts are really expensive all of about $1.50 each.

Randy,

LOL ... I was waiting for someone to call attention to the tiny minutia low risk price tag from Kleen-Rite. We will examine the locking channel area on the Standard version of the nut. I was pretty sure there is some consistency among the T-Locks even between brands.

There is not an urgent need so ... we will get it in with a future shipment to avoid extra shipping-handling etc cost.

How thick is the Hamilton nut? I just measured the Standard nut ... it is a perfect 1 inch square --- actually 1/2" thick ... not 3/8" like I originally eye-balled instead of measuring. I confess ... i edited my post.

One of the reasons I posted ... is because I was not sure if Standard Changemakers sells that part separately. I am not seeing that as a part number in any of their literature. I (like others) have run into having to buy a whole assembly sometimes with different outfits over the years.

Here is what our friend Kris Kious from Standard just emailed me:

Standard Changer Part #3N00104 - NUT,1"X1/2" SQUARE LOCK 1/2-1 selling price $6.43

I put the P/N in a kleenrite search & here is what came up:

http://car-wash.kleen-ritecorp.com/search?w=3N00104

It also comes up via a PWSlaundry search.

Parts ordering can sometimes be tricky unless the # is known via parts (service) manual &/or the part shows up on a list or a 5 dimensional model (BIM).

I still have not ruled out the possibility of the Hamilton Nut being the same thing ... especially after Randy said the 99% sure thing statement within his post.

Inexpensive part but if one does not have it ... the changer will be less secure with only one NUT holding ... if both NUTS go ... then it is the same as the ChangeMaker being left open with a free for all (gulp). I remember many moons ago, I left a car wash coin box unlocked ... but a customer who was also a friend let me know soon enough.

Is it not just a standard strut nut like the McMaster part I listed?
The standard strut NUT meets all specifications except the thickness of the changer nut for locking purposes is actually 1/2". The strut nut is 3/8" thick. It is possible we can make a standard strut nut work ... hopefully we will try one before it becomes a more urgent need.

Randy,

Since it is not actually needed at the momemt ... we will wait to get it on another shipment which we will eventually make. Is the less expensive Hamilton $1.50 NUT 1/2" thick matching the Standard ChangeMaker's NUT??? Sometime ... without going out of your way too much ... maybe you can share with us that info.
