Folks,

Been having a tough time with my SS presoak. I have a Hydrominder 506 with a green tip. It isn’t pulling chemicals like my others. Actually it pulls chemical out of the pick tube intially(with nothing in the line). Seems fine, but won’t draw when water level goes low. I am stuck with watery or very diluted presoak.

I have rebuild the diaphragm kit, new eductor kit. New foot valve(holding fine). New pickup tube. Lots of water pressure. Even swapped out the hydrominder for another rebuilt hydrominder. Same thing.

What am I missing. This is driving me nuts : ). Thanks in advance for your advice.

Seems like you covered most of the basis. So...
1. Is there lots of water coming out of the hydrominder? Clogged inlet screen?
2. Bad or clogged foot valve in the concentrate pail / drum?
3. Line from concentrate to hydrominder has a small air leak somewhere?

Hey I have been through same thing and found the original problem at the end being the supply inlet screen being clogged up with mud/gravel/dirt from city water or the supply water hose breaking down clogging up the screen on hydrominder reducing water pressure & weak dilution. Only other thing is i have seen the black housing ate up even if you put a rebuild kit in and they still leak out the distribution tube into the tank. Hope this helps

Me and earl must have been typing at the same time.
Or you could have a bad barrel of weak presoak. Try another product drain tank see what happens

Check your inlet screen for your water as suggested. I found one of mine slowly clogging over time, found the inside of the hose was coming off and fouling the screen. Changed out the hose and all has been well since.

It sounds like you’ve done just about everything. It could also be the Presoak. What presoak are you using? What is the viscosity of the presoak?

I recently replaced a Hydrominder and for some reason the new one wouldn't draw at all, even though it filled the tank fast. I finally noticed that 9 out of 10 times when it came on it would jet the flow right through the yellow restrictor in the discharge tube, and if I flexed the hose a bit it would touch the ring and suddenly start to draw. I messed with it for a good ten minutes and finally put the old tube back on and it worked perfectly.

Ok, so the discharge tube has a siphon hole, but no flooding ring. Could the fact that the discharge tube is not the one that came with the hydrominder be the cause? I feel like it could. I’ve tried everything else. : ).

is the siphon hole above the liquid level in the tank?

While I have used plain tube in place of a OEM discharge tube and it seemed to work, conventional wisdom is you need the oem tube with the ring for it to work properly.

You said you tried a new eductor. Try another one. It's rare....but I've had a bad one or two over the years. Although, it shouldn't be needed....I use teflon tape on the joints (and also the metering tip threads). It only takes a little bit of an air leak....and it won't work.

Like others have said, check the water inlet screen. Remove it completely, and test.

Solution:

The manufacturers discharge tube with the flood ring. Back in business! Thanks for the help!
