I have WashGear on some Hamilton ACWs. One of them grabs a card every now and then and will not release it unless you pull it out with pliers. I haven't taken it apart yet to see what is going on, but wanted to know if anyone else has had this problem and what it was. WashGear charges for tech support so I thought I would try here first.

if you've had this reader for some time and it is just starting to have the problem, then the little bumper inside that keeps cards from going in too far is probably worn out. probably time for a new reader. i think jennifer and dave at washgear are out of the office until next week.

I had the same problem. Hamilton suggested I file the bumper square again. I did this and it really didn't help. Finally had to buy a new one.

I would suggest you contact Randy Nix here on this forum. His price was lots less than Hamilton.

I had the same thing happen. WashGear has a replacement reader that will now read both ways. FWIW, it took the old one apart, and found the "stop tab" worn. I took a small piece of epoxy paste, put a drop over the worn spot, let it harden and then filed it square. It now works like new, and sits as a spare in case I ever need it.....

It's not Hamilton's reader, it's a WashGear conversion. I try to call Randy from time to time, but he is always eating.
