Can you mix different kinds of softener salt? Wanted to hit all the area convenience stores and pick up those sun faded bags of salt. I can’t imagine there’s much of a difference but wanted to ask people with more expietenve than myself.

Thanks

NaCl is salt. That's what you're looking for. NaCl (salt) is what your water softener uses in it's regeneration process. NaCl is NaCl. What the bag looks like as long as it contains NaCl (salt) then you're doing fine. I know an owner that uses white animal lick blocks from his ranch (buys them by the semi load for the ranch) and he's been doing it for 35 years. NaCl is NaCl.

It shouldn't hurt to mix salt types or brands. Just don't use Solar Salt granules, it's nasty.

I only use salt from the Great Salt Lake. Not only is my water soft, it is HOLY.

The actual Solar Salt brand, it will leave a thick brown sludge floating on the water.
