Changer just... dead

I got to the wash the other evening and both OOS lights on the DRS changer were on. I thought "Nice, it's been super busy and they emptied the changer." Nope, the level was the same as it was the previous evening, and even though both validators were flashing 2 (Disabled from system) both controller lights were dark. Resetting them did nothing, I thought maybe a power surge had damaged them which would have sucked because I don't have any backup. Luckily when I cycled the power off for a minute and back on they came back up and worked. Video showed a brief power failure at 6 am so both sides of the changer were down all damn day.

Anyone have a used working C2000 controller for sale?

Have you thought about putting a pure sine wave UPS on your changer? I did that years ago and don't have that problem anymore.

Which reminds me it's probably time to replace the battery!

I might have to, it happened again a couple weeks ago, just one controller this time.

I put a 1200 Joules of Surge Protector on the power supply to the bill changer. I haven't had a problem since.

Must be a hamilton thing. Ive had to reset the controller many times on DRS after storms and power outages

When I first started 25 years ago my SS bay timers would trigger on and stay on until reset after every power surge, Free washes for everyone until I rest them.

This happened again the other night while I was there, the lights went out for about half a second and came back on, right after which I heard a crash off in the distance. My guess is it was someone hitting a power pole. I think I'll just put a pure sine wave UPS on it, which I can also tap off of for the video.

A Pure sine wave UPS is quite a bit more expensive, but well worth it.

Evidently they've come way down - I can get a 550 watt unit for $129, should be plenty for the changer alone. I'll probably go with a 1500 watt which is still only about $200.

I think mine is a 550w and gave about $300 for it. So yea, the price has came way down! Cheap "Peace" of mind.....

It happened again yesterday morning, this time even though both OOS lights were on, one validator was still active and taking bills. I didn't start getting calls until about 2 PM, and by the time I got there it had taken about $100 from customers. I've already ordered the UPS.

If the "Out of Service light" is on and the validator is still taking money switch #6 is probably in "Always enabled" it should be in "Harness enabled" If switch #6 is in "Harness enabled" then theres something wrong with relay adapter box if the validator is still accepting money but not paying out. I put a 1000 joule surge protector on our changers years ago after the first time it went off line with a power surge, we haven't had a problem since.

Yes, the harness enable switches are on.
