Pressure and nozzle size

I am currently operating my self serve pumps at 1000psi with 2505 nozzles, I am curious what other operators are running?

I use 2505 as well, gives good show and a little kick. I would rather go with 1505 as you can cut film easier with the smaller fan, but customers complained. So I went back to 2505.

1200 with a 25055, I'd run a 2506 but the city wants car washes limited to 3 GPM. I'm still slightly over that, but not enough that the inspectors ever care.

1300 - 1400psi 1505 nozzles. We've used 1505 nozzles for over 20 years, no one has ever complained.

1508 at 1200 psi. A lot more impingement. I tried tips with less volume and found it took me much longer to clean each bay.

I've been running 2507 @ 1400 psi for a while. I put in a 1505 a few weeks ago and ..... I really didn't like it. Not sure how much water I'd save but the "fan" is too narrow and cleaning power is much less (obviously 7 compared to 5).

What's everybody have for motor size 3hp or 5hp I currently have 3hp really thinking of moving up to 5hp when I buy new Arimitsu pumps this summer

I use a 3hp 3 phase motor with no problem running the Cat 310 pump at 1400 psi with a 1505 nozzle.

I also have the 3 hp 3 phase. Not sure the advantages of a 5hp? Also as follow up I did increase my pressure to 1100psi with the 2505 tip. This feels good with me, does a fine job and reduces hand fatigue. Trying to balance factors including; hand fatigue, water usage, chemical usage and customer satisfaction. My goal is to get and keep customers returning and spending as much time as possible with the meter running

The Arimitsu 313 would be fine with 3 HP motors. For some reason, the 516 calls for 4 HP when running standard bay pressures. I would think you would still be ok with 3 HP motors, since every other pump out there will run on a 3 HP motor at standard bay pressures. If I were to try a 516, I'd try it with a 3 HP and do a load test on the motor.

One of my washes had two bays with 3HP motors. I installed 516s w/2506 and ran them at 1200 with no issues at all. Greg at Arimitsu has a formula for determining HP needed for the GPM and pressure you are running.

Yes, he sent that to me and showed where the requirement for the 516 was well over 3 HP. I think it's just an overestimation.
