I got a call this morning that reinforced the reason why we don’t have bill validators in the bays. The bill validators make your coin boxes a prime target! If you think you are safe because you have a police station nearby think again, the car wash that this coin box is located at is across the street from a police station. The thieves might have gotten $20 between the 2 bill validators.
This is the reason why!

You’re right Randy. It’s the reason I don’t have don’t have them in my bays. I got hit last Sunday morning at 730, broad daylight. Took a crowbar to the paystation and all they did was jack up my validator. Great pics and video but these were smart dumbasses. They covered the plate before they came on the property. It's not our car wash. We took the bill validators out years ago. Bill validators are to much of a target.

Oddly enough, i had em for 6 yrs @ my 1st wash, in a town w/ alot of crime, & never got hit. But, I ain't dancin with that devil again.

I am thinking that car washes with doors &/or gated area that lock up during slowest hours are less likely to have their bill acceptors ... &/or ATMs be hit for that matter. Alarm system should be quick enough to trigger if the perps are in a closed area during closed time. It might help insurance rates vs a 24/7 too??? Daytime hits can surely happen but they would tend to happen at car washes that have long lulls of too few of regular customers around.
Like I said before ... robbers who are on foot are less likely to want to carry heavy
coins. The problem is the coins have to be high enough denomination. IMHO ... I am pretty sure there is too significant of a % of potential customers in some areas ... who prefer to not have to get tokens.
Hopefully license #'s & detailed vehicle description can be traced to robbers who use their vehicles on the car wash lot. It seems like the ones on foot would be the hazard???
As far as 100% cashless ... I am not convinced that the more white collar debiting our gross receipts is the answer. Also ... nobody really has a crystal ball when it comes to future "hacking" incidents on the less mature technology of phone apps etc. Our 8+ years of experience with our more mature technology "ATM 'maintenance'" ... points to much tougher encryption requirements etc.
