Washworld Profile

New to group, but not to carwashing... Currently have a 3 iba site with custom built LW g5s, wanting to replace one with what I've decided will probably be a Profile by washworld. I've went through all of the options, and have an idea of what I want to load it up with. I'd like to know what you guys have and haven't had good luck with, or what you would've done differently. I seen the rainbar "mod" with the foam n flow, and liked that. Seems to be a better alternative than having to watch it constantly. Thanks in advance!
 
We installed a WW Profile-Max in late 2018. It's loaded, to include Triple Foam, Foam & Flow and Wheel Detailer (high pressure, not brush). We also have their Power Tower and Undercarriage wash. I wouldn't change anything, but will warn that depending on your car-count, things do wear out and break. Our distributor told us that WW told them our Profile is the 3rd busiest Profile in the country; and this is just a single IBA in a rural community in South Texas. Things wear out and do require maintenance. The Wheel Detailers get alot of use and require hose and wheel-spinner replacements frequently. High pressure hoses, gearboxes and motors wear out also. But all in all, this is just the cost of doing business. We get folks who drive 30 minutes to get to our wash, even though there are some Ryko's, PDQ's and Mark VII's closer to them. The Profile does a super job. We intend to build a 2nd bay and install a WW Razor later this year, which should take some of the wear and tear off the Profile.
 
Same load out I'm thinking I'm going to do! Glad to hear it's been good to you, I expected some maintenance! What are you getting on your top wash times? So far I've seen some fairly long times, but I feel it could be set up faster?
 
We have 3 washes: Basic Wash is about 4 min.; middle wash is 5-1/2 min. and Top Wash is 7-1/2 min. The Base Wash is a single pass, and the other 2 are double passes. Middle and Top wash include Bug Pass and Tire Scrub; and Top Wash adds Triple Foam and Carnauba application. All 3 include Spot Free Rinse, which is a slower application, and adds to the overall times.

Does that 7&1/2 minutes include the dryer time, & if so, how long is your dryer (on board or stand alone)?

The 7-1/2 for the Top Wash does not include the blower. The vehicle moves from the wash area after 7-1/2 min. into the drying, area and the next vehicle moves in, and the dryer is timed for 1 minute on the exiting vehicle. The Top Wash starts with a Bug Pass and Presoak, followed by 2 passes of soap, Rinse, then a Triple Foam, Rinse, Sealant, Wheel Scrub, Protectant & Drying Agent, and Spot-Free Rinse. When we had the PDQ Tandem, the Top Wash took 9 minutes because of the onboard dryer. When we bought the Profile, we also added another 16-ft. addition to the wash bay with the blowers in it to allow one car to move into that after the actual wash, which speeded things up a bit and we are able to have 1 car washing and 1 car drying at the same time.
 
3rd busiest in US is impressive! I imagine yall have looked into speeding up that 7&1/2 minures...?

I saw the Facebook picture of your wash. Awesome looking glass building - great looking property. Really nice extended bay. Good luck with the Razor.

Thanx so much. The new bay for the Razor will be the same type of building, but a bit smaller. And to Coach's comment of the timing of the Top Wash, we've asked them to speed it up and have tried various things, but the results didn't make the customers happy, since we seemed to get more complaints about the cars not rinsing well with sealant and/or foam still on the cars.
 

I am thinking of buying a Profile. Over the years my attitude has been: "If its not there it can't break!"
Would you consider a Profile without the wheel detailers or is it just a MUST?
 
I am also fixing to install a Profile and I'm torn on wheel scrubbers or no wheel scrubbers. My distributor says that the brushes clean the wheels a decent amount anyhow so he doesn't recommend them.

I would agree. A good high pH chemical, high pressure wheel blasters and two passes with the side brushes and you are going to clean a lot off the wheels. Round wheel scrubbers will only fully cover smaller wheels anyway.
 
Well, for me definitely NO dedicated wheel brushes. My customers always drive into them damaging the machine. The HP wheel cleaners only if they are REALLY REALLY good. Very interested to hear what CheetahExpress thinks...
 
Definitely NO scrubbers. I had them on a Mark VII for many years. I was at a friends wash one day and noticed he had removed the brushes from his machine. He said he was tired of trying to keep them working and just removed them, and no one noticed. I did the same with mine, and in the two years following, I had two people ask about them...two! One of them was glad they were gone because she thought they messed up her tire pressure sensors. They just weren't worth the hassle and cost of keeping them working.
 
It's definitely an individual decision you'll have to make. My distributor tells us we're the only ones they have, who have the wheel detailers. I wanted to offer our customers something they don't get at the other automatics in the area, and there are only a couple within a 30-minute drive. They do a great job on the wheels and the vast majority of customers buy the packages with the wheel detailers.
 
I opted for the touchless wheel scrubbers and they do a decent job. I love the design where they are out of the way until called upon, so customers don't run into them. Use a good Tire Chemical and you will see the difference. Definitely not perfect, but better than not having them IMO.
 
Ours are also touchless and agree with everything you just stated. We use a high alkaline cleaner in ours by ChemQuest -- Select 35 -- and it does a great job.

would you see a very big difference if you didn't have them? I understand that your customers pay extra for using them. Will the wheels still get cleaned okay by the side brushes alone?
I am getting too old for all the repairs I'm doing now. I try to avoid whatever I can.
 
BTW Anyone knows the cleaning boundary of the Profile (i.e. what height & width of cars can you wash)? I couldn't find anything on their website.
 
I concur with the touchless wheel detailer for the profile, we use the power towers as our wheel cleaner and I wish we would of spent extra on the wheel detailer (touchless) option. 7ft is the height I know that much width I don't know without measuring my blue reflectors on the floor.
