I have a JE ADAMS 8600 vac that has a zettler timer/relay and a IMONEX coin acceptor. I need the vac to accept quarters and a token. Any idea what I can do?

How about starting with a Multi-coin coin acceptor, 24 volt transformer and possibility replacing the timer with an accumulating timer. I'm not 100% sure the Zetter timer that Adams uses is a accumulating timer, if it is then all you need is a Multi-coin coin acceptor and 24 volt power source.

Just to add to what Randy said & what he has previously recommended: Using a mercury relay for the specific heavy amperage generated by the VAC motors has proven to be the best ... especially for the long term!

BTW ... Imonex has improved their coin mechs ... based on our recent choice on our 2 brand new 75 lbs Maytag laundromat dryers. The OEM quarter only coin mechs that came with the over $5K each dryers were crapo.

I am pretty sure it’s an accumulating timer but right now the IMONEX coin acceptor only has two wires coming off it and the slugbuster that will take a token has four and only use 3 normally. What do you do with the purple wire on the slugbuster than normally goes to the coin counter
Here is a pic of the relay/timer

If you explain clearly enough to Butch or someone similar at Imonex your exact coin mech ... I am pretty sure he will be helpful. Based on the pic ... I would say you definitely want to have the timer relay energize the mercury relay otherwise your timer relay probably won't last as long as preferred. Most of here will vouch for what I am saying. Do a search on KleenRite for "mercury relay" &/or vac relay etc.

I use Dixmor LED7s on all my vacs ... very reliable with the option of displaying time which is a nice touch for the customers. A bit of labor involved with a possible metal cutting out required.

That is an accumulating timer if it's the original.

Imonex makes a mechanical acceptor that takes quarters and .984" diameter tokens, problem is it will take all tokens that size. The easiest conversion is to use a multi-coin electronic acceptor and replace the timer with a GS-409 timer. If you want to avoid taking other tokens you have to change to an electronic acceptor.

The GS-409 is non-accumulating. The GS-403 is the accumulating. For the record I only recommend non-accumulating in push button "free" applications.

I take the Purple wire, that is never used and cut it shorter and put a cap on the end on it. I take all the other wires and wind them up around the shaft of a Philips screw driver so it looks like a spring when you pull the screw driver out.
