Going thru some books today and realized that 3 years today I made one of the best purchases for my wash. The IR compressor was about to blowup and nobody had a part anywhere.
I researched and decided to give this Emax compressor a try. Best thing I ever did for work room comfort. Its so damn quiet!
Runs 5 SS bays and a Razor with ease. 2FDC0F84-1173-4697-9390-6F9E8D7E3F4F.jpeg

Those are made by Eaton Compressor and made very close to us. We have been through the factory and although we do not own one yet we will when our Ingersoll Rand compressor croaks.

I just installed one in my tunnel, less than two months old but very happy with it so far.

I purchased an 80 gallon / 5 HP EMAX Air Compressor in March 2017. Made by Eaton. I've been pretty happy with it. My only complaint is the quality of their parts. After 3 years (2020), we had to replace the Pressure Switch. 2 years later (2022) it stopped working again. A local repairman said that Eaton combines the STARTER & PRESSURE SWITCH into 1 unit, to save money. He said it's UNDERPOWERED, which is why it keeps failing. It's designed for 2HP/3HP unit, NOT 5 HP. The repairman prefers Quincy air compressors and keeps parts on-hand. He ended up replacing Emax's switch with a separate mag starter AND simple switch - which is the ideal industrial. Hopefully your new model is better!

Sounds like yours might be single phase? On a 3 phase I am sure the starter and pressure switch would have to be separate.

Quincy makes a great compressor as well, I probably wouldn't have switched from Quincy to Emax except for the noise. We still have 3 Quincys at other locations

Yup, I've got 1 phase electrical. If Quincy's are louder, I may stick with my EMAX. I do appreciate that it's quieter than my old Campbell Hausfeld.

What may have happened (I've experienced the same thing with Ingersoll/Rand) is the switch is rated at 240 volts, but your incoming power may be 208 volts which increases the required amps. We used to install 7.5 HP I/R compressors in new builds, the electrical parts were rated for 25 amps at 240 volts but the automatic unit had to have 208, so after the first couple failures we figured out that we had to order the compressors with 30 amp switches. Never a problem after that.

Quincy's are not louder, single stage compressors are much louder than two stage. I have a 240 volt single phase, two stage Quincy 5 horse in my shop and hardly notice it running. I just bought the same compressor with a 208 three phase motor for the wash.

I replaced my iR w/ a Polar Air, bu Eaton. It is a slight upgrade over the Emaxx. The Pilar Air is built like an A1 Abrams!!
