Expense of high resolution Security Cameras

I am using 128Gb SD with V3. The SD card shows as a drive on computer ... then use the computer's built in windows explorer. 1 minute increments but within each minute it has continuous as long as you have the settings on the Wyze phone app set to continuous. I also record audio which comes in handy ... like the other very recent night while closing up ... the audio clearly included the "I WILL STAB YOU IN THE FACE" AUDIO by the guy who we had the police put a "no trespass" on! A pen-spy cam or body cam might have been even more foolproof than whatever mounted camera in that specific situation.

Nothing like having 100% evidence that even a rogue "deep state" judge (with allies) might have to pull his horns in to acknowledge.

With the 128 Gb card it seems like at least a few weeks of continuous recording ... the Wyze Cloud is more likely to be down than the camera itself that is why the SD card might be the only ticket to a successful record.

If you run a NVR system, you can get the same video quality across CAT-6e cables as you will from cameras with a SD card, no ladder needed.

The ideal system would be maybe a NVR RAID system with all POE cams. That would be the closest to zero downtime for recording permanently mounted cameras IMHO.

Blanco, How good are the instructions for programming/setting up the system for I never got a response from them regarding the cable info I requested.

1. Designate NVR and POE switch location
2. Run camera wire
3. Mount cameras
4. Run internet cables to NVR and POE switch
5. Connect HDMI to monitor or TV from NVR
6. Plug in NVR and POE switch to outlet
7. Start up and go through set up process

When you first start up only your 16 cameras plugged into NVR will show up. Once set up is complete you will right click then select device search and add the other 16 cameras that are plugged into your POE switch.

Most cameras that can capture plates during the day struggle in the dark. I have yet to see a consumer/off-the-shelf grade solution that can capture plates at night on a moving vehicle.

In the world of surveillance, you get what you pay for. If you want to capture license plates at night (which is the only thing that is important in my experience), you need commercial hardware.

In order to capture plates at night, you really need a dedicated camera aimed at entrance/exit points of your car wash. Ideally where cars drive by less than 5mph (speed bumps can be your friend here).

You generally will want to use a camera that contains an IR Cut Filter and has some sort of Headlight filtering built in. The cameras I generally use for LPC are shooting 60fps 2mp with a 12-40mm lens. I back each camera up with a large infrared array (I usually aim for 200ft IR range if I am trying to capture something 100ft away). The more IR you can toss at a plate the better.

When I set these up I zoom into a very tight perspective of an area where cars leaving/entering will pass. When properly setup, even in the pitch black of night we capture 95% of plates that drive by.

Cops don't do jack without plate numbers & most my car wash issues occur at night. Make sure your system captures plates day & night.
