my announcement speaker in my automatic bay went bad and I ordered a new one. These speakers are expensive. Has anyone had any luck repairing them and keeping them on the shelf for a spare?
If it is indeed a Floyd Bell speaker, DigiKey.com is a distributor.Yes they are expensive. Is it a Floyd Bell?
How much was that?Oh I already ordered a new one from Autowash Maintenance and it's on the way. I just wondered about the possibility of repairing or rebuilding the old one and keeping it as a spare.
$600 ishHow much was that?

Yes. I have a friend who is very good with electronics, circuit boards, and speakers. He used to build high-end sound equipment in Boston years ago. I will definitely take a look at the old one because I doubt it's too complicated. At that price, it would probably be worth getting an electronics repair place to look at it. Sometimes its just something simple that went out. Like $1 worth of capacitors making a computer monitor not work.
