I am a Tesla owner. When I visit an official Tesla SuperCharger (which I do only on road trips), it takes about 30 -40 minutes to charge my car. But the Tesla SuperChargers provide high-voltege charging. The "other" chargers that you see at hotels and would be the ones being added to car washes, charge on 240v, which is what I have in my garage at home. It takes about 8 hours to fully charge my car at home.

I do not want a car parked in one of my vac spaces for hours on end.
At $2 per 5 minutes (a typical vac charge) that would be $196.

Look into the Electrify America grants. I’m thinking about taking this up once I finally sign on the line for my car wash (taking forever). My plans are to have a fast charger, install an adjacent vacuum and standalone vending machine and crest a “tidy up as you charge” situation.

There are nearby Tesla chargers, but those who don’t use NACS don’t have much option in my area.

What are people going to do for eight hours while the car charges? How is this going to work with all the impatient people in our world?

If their phone battery dies they will go insane

You do understand that many/most new EVs can charge from 10 -> 80% in under an hour on a proper DC fast charger, right. We’re not talking about having residential level 1 chargers installed here…

Super charger stations may fit better at a Costco, Sams club, Theatre, or even a Starbucks rather than my car wash, in my opinion, of course.

To charge in this kind of time, you would have to have a level 3 fast charger, and if you have looked into this (we have), just the hardware is anywhere from $10,000 to $40,000. Then there is install. I feel like the ROI for this would be incredibly slow... Nothing wrong with this, but not the easiest way to make your money.

EV's are a hoax. Stay away. charging stations are not profitable because they have a very bad roi. Can you imagine riding down the interstate in your EV and comment to wifey, "Honey, we need to recharge and I see there's a recharging station about 10 miles ahead at the next exit." He gets about a mile from the exit and there's a mile long line of EV's pulled over in line on the shoulder waiting to get a charge. Nice scenario, huh?

Anyone thought about the acreage that will be needed for charging stations once there gets to be a significant number of these things on the interstate system? I have, and they will need many acres. No one wants to talk about the ridiculously long charge times, the short range, the terrible impact on the environment from heavy metals-battery mfg. and later disposal, the heavy weight that destroys roads, abysmal resale value. Did I mention the short range? Especially in Winter? Ford can't give away an F150 Lightning. Why? You cannot tow shytte with the stupid thing. EV's are not anywhere near ready for prime time. People are already wising up to how bad they are, even Democrats.

This thread is about EV charging stations at a car wash, not your personal opinion about EV's in general.

You can stick your head in a hole and ignore the current automotive trends and government regulations being passed across the world. But ignorance is not bliss. EV's will be the future whether you like it or not...

In your post above you very clearly lay out the current problem with EV's. Range and charging anxiety...If there were chargers everywhere both these problems are solved.

If I was looking at this for my car wash, I'd be looking to get a subsidized charging station if possible to lower my cost. Love the idea of a vacuum station next to it (which you can charge a premium for | perhaps $1/minute).

I read this morning that the copper thieves are cutting off the charging cables from the recharging stations.

Was having a conversation with the VP of Energy for a large grocery chain and he stated that the fast charging stations that Tesla provides in shopping centers draw a tremendous amount of energy. Especially when Tesla owner groups get together, when they stop by and all charge at the exact same time, the start up amperage is insane when all the chargers turn on.

Make sure you guys do your research before going out and installing multiple units in your car washes. Make sure you get a good feasibility study done. Reminds me of the solar panels scams, not sure if I have met one person who is happy with their systems.
