When I first started in this biz, I bought an old wash and (of course) all 6 motors took a over the next three years. Not knowing where, how, or if it would be worth rebuilding one, I bought a new motor from Grainger for $600.
Then found that replacing a starter capacitor can get you going for a bit longer (a year or two), and it's worth it. Finally, a local guy was located that would take them apart and rebuild them as needed for about $100. Those rebuilds have been running for 14 years and we still have the first one we replaced with the new motor sitting on my warehouse shelf waiting for the call of duty.

What size motor is it? You might want to start looking for another motor. My motor guy charges $75 to look at a motor paid in advance. He said he had to start doing that because people would bring a motor and he would spend a lot of time diagnosing the motor problem and the owner of the motor would decline the repair because was too expensive to repair. If the customer would tell them to go ahead and fix the motor they’d credit the bench fee to the repair.

Its a 2HP single phase motor. I was able to order a new one from zoro.com as it was about 300 cheaper then grainger (thanks to their discount). Although, I have one bay shut down so not sure if the 300 I am saving is worth it as grainger has it in stock locally. I have been calling around and from the few people I talked to, they said they dont work on single phase motors as its not very cost effective to fix them. I will keep looking to see if I can get this one repaired for a reasonable price and have it as a back up.

2HP? That might be an indicator on why it went out. What pressure and wand tip size are you using?

I am at 1100 PSI. I am not sure on the tip size though. The motor have been rock solid. What do u suggest for motors?

Typically 3-5 HP

For anyone coming to this thread, I had to replace the motor. The few places I have called out to for repairs, they have told me they dont fix single phase motors which is what I have. It sure would be nice to have it repaired and keep it as back up.

Did you replace it with another 2HP? If so do you have a clamp on meter to check the amp draw under load to make sure it is in spec?

Yes, I replaced it with the same size. I dont have a clamp on meter but can get one. What am I looking for?

Something like this is what you are looking for. You open the clamp and put only one conductor in it.
