All,

I have a hamilton dual bill changer. One of the hoppers will dispense 1 extra quarter when changing a bill ($1=5qtrs, $5=21qtrs etc.) the problem follows whichever changer I put the problem hopper in. Hopper part# 11-0100

-I already replaced the counter switch, same issue
-error light shows communication fault

I’ve cleaned and checked all connections on the hopper. Any ideas?

thanks!

Which Hopper Payout switch did you install, part number? What is the error code that is showing on the code, the controller will flash in a sequence. The sequence tells you what to look for. It could be the brake on the back of the motor is out of adjustment or the brake arm could be broken or the Payout switch isn’t adjusted correctly.

I ordered Hamilton changers 100-0395 switch. It’s a newer part number than the switch I had, but it worked and I managed to adjust it very easily.

I’ll check for the sequence later when I get to the wash. It was 2 or 3 flashes and it had something to do with communication error. Lost my pic of error codes

The red light below is blinking twice (disabled from system)

the green light on the controller is blinking 3x pause, then 4x pause… so 3,4,3,4

The 100-0395 Payout switch is the newest switch assembly and the easiest to install. Try readjusting the switch, you might have it to tight. I think you might be reading the error code sequence wrong. The error that your getting is probably a 4 - 3 error "4 FLASHES, PAUSE, 3 FLASHES HOPPER 3 COIN DROP STUCK" It's possible that you could have a defective switch.
How does the brake on the back of the motor look? It should move freely and be loose. If the brake arm is hanging down it's broken.

If it’s too tight, what would that cause? Do I want the “click” to be on a hair trigger, or do I want a decent amount of travel?

I’ll look for this motor brake.

call Hamilton they are very helpful. Also maybe the quarter wheel is wearing out and allowing extra quarter . I had a problem like that with my ginsan vendor

Motor brake seems intact
When you push up on the brake arm does it drop freely when you release it? when I install the new 100-0395 switch I rotate the coin wheel so that the coin is just about to drop out the slot and I then adjust the switch so that both switch plungers are depressed. You don't want to bend the actuator arm. If this doesn't work you could have a bad switch.

Yes the arm returns to position just fine.

I checked coin switch lash based on your method. It seems to be perfect… what do you mean by “both” switch plungers?

Nevermind, I see the plungers. They appear to depress correctly when I rotate a coin through.
