I'm making that switch mainly due to price - Generals are more than half as good as Arimitsu and coss less than half as much. They're also a lot quieter than the 5CP. .
You are kidding, right?
My Dultmeier catalog shows the Arimitsu 516, the pump I.B. has talked about switching to, for $ 479.00. The same catalog shows the CW2040 at $ 529.00 and the HTS2215S at $649.00. You must have a different source. You are correct about the GP pump being lower quality than Arimitsu.
Earl.
Model 516 is the same speed, performance, and size as Cat 310. Arimitsu is the #1 car wash pump company in Japan. The Japanese company that makes the Cat 310 is not.
I like the Arimitsu because the pumps are the quietest around, have 100% stainless steel valves (no plastic cages to break), the valves do not have o-rings that pit and washout, do not require special tools to service, and the folks there are really helpful.
Maybe Greg will chime in, maybe not.
The 310 is a 70's piston pump designed into a plunger pump.
The 5CP is a pump made like a GP (inexpensive). Take them a part and look.
You will wonder why Cat can charge so much for the 5CP.
