All,

I do spend some energy reexamining things from time to time. One thing on my list was CC rates. Currently my entry system (WSII) is dialup. My fees are about 3.7% plus a 15 cent transaction fee. I am changing to internet clearing where my fees are 1.6% and no transaction fee. The IP module costs $900.

This change will also allow me to dump the phone line ($89/month). I already have highspeed for my cameras, I use my cell phone for wash contact and my alarm system is wireless.

I will save several thousand (pre tax) dollars a year.

Do you get your internet through your phone company? If so, you may not lose the entire $89/mo charge. For example, my internet is through my phone company and it's one charge for the phone, and a little more for the internet. If I drop the phone the internet charge goes up. Might want to check.

I'm headed in that direction as soon as I can find a reasonable internet provider. Two of the big three don't service our area. If a "land line" is of any use, check out "ooma". For the cost of the equipment you can have phone service with no monthly charge.

Jeff,

Thanks! I contacted my ISP and there is no extra charge in my area for a "Dry Loop".
