Laser 4000 Dryer Runs Continuously

One of our docking dryers has been running continously when it is parked in the home position. The only way to stop it has been to hit the e-stop, give it some time, and then restart the wash. The receipt printer at the JO printed power interupt errors while the dryer was running. Does anyone have any ideas?

The power interrupt error is actualy a cpu (lasermind) issue.
You need to check to verify you have 120 vac going to cpu. (grey cord on left side if you are looking from back)

Remove back cover and ensure software chip is inserted tightly, ensure all pins are in sockets and not folded under chip making intermittant contact.

Ensure the battery on the cpu is good. Remove and test for at least 2.8 v dc.

if non of these are the issue you will need to contact your distributor and get a tech out to site.

PDQ does still repair A5000 controllers in house, this may be an option insted of buying a new unit if it comes to that.

Check all the settings to see if anything has changed from the last configuration report. If the memory has been corrupted, it can cause unusual actions. A "cold start" may take care of it. If you remove the little battery from the back of the CPU to test voltage, it will be the same as "cold starting" and you will have to be prepared to completely reprogram the CPU (system option number, plumbing option number, .....).

There is a cap on the motherbaord to maintain memory for a short time when battery is pulled out to check voltage on battery. Removing for a min or two to check should not do anything for the memory unless something is not right, such as bad battery, or that capacitor i pointed out is not working.
It is always good pratice to have a system print out in the JO incase you do have to reprogram the machine.
