Float Valves

Which Float valve is considered to be the most reliable? How long should they last? This valve is 1” and is used on a warm water system.

I use a large roberts on my touchfree-not the most reliable, and 1.5 yrs.
I used to use a mechanical switch with a rainbird sprinkler valve--extremely reliable. Less than $20, and a $3 diaphram every couple of years. Extremely quick on and off, so can hammer the pipes on some installs, with high water pressure.

You could plumb in a "riser" to stop the water hammer effect.

There are sprinkler valves with a soft shut-off too.

I have had a Walters installed in one IBA tank for a little over 4 years without a single problem. Another one in a different IBA for 2 1/2 years with no problems. Both are on cold water lines.

How do you use a sprinker valve inplace of your hydrominder???

You just connect it in-line on the plumbing to the tank and use a float switch in the tank to turn it on and off.

What kind of float switch? 12/24 volt, 110?

There are all sorts of switches that will work. They aren't voltage-specific. You're switching whatever powers the sprinkler solenoid, not selecting a 24 volt switch.
