Oh boy, was it one of those days at the wash today.

I arrived at the wash this afternoon to my normal muddy bays and overflowing trash cans, but I was also blessed with a pickup load of trash thrown on and around my dumpster. I was very proud of myself for recently putting the sign above my dumpster that reads, "Positively No Dumping". It also goes on to say it's against various state and federal laws and to smile because your on hidden camera. Obviously, the people that just visited my dumpster either did not see the sign, or just couldn't read. I also got to clean up another trash can's worth of garbage from the parking lot next to my vacuum island. Following my normal protocol, and not cutting the idiot any slack, I called the local police. Of course the people are too dumb to pick out all the trash with their names on it, so I had a large sample of their name and address to show the police. By the way, the parking lot dumper was also the same one that buried my dumpster. The police officer headed up the street to the trailer court to track them down, and I waited patiently by my truck in front of the wash, as I was ready to head home. While waiting, the wonderful landscaper guy came in and washed mulch and leaves out of his bed all over one of my bays and the young man helping his mother vacuum her car was throwing rocks that were apparently found in the car, out into my grass. The police officer called back and stated that the person on the letters that I found was a 75 year old woman who sent her grandchildren to clean her car earlier in the day. She would call them and get them to come down and clean it up to avoid the ticket. Satisfied with the results, I walked back to the dumpster to lock it up before leaving and SOB if there wasn't some damn black guy standing next to my dumpster taking a ****. I yelled at him and asked him what he thought he was doing and he just replied "****in". I told him to get out of my car wash and he said he would when he finished. I told him to leave now or I would call the police. He said, he would be long gone before they ever got there. Of course, I was beyond mad at this point and walked over to get his tag number and told him that I had all the information that I needed. The guy starts screaming and yelling at ME, like I did something wrong. I yelled at him that I was trying to run a business here and that would not be tolerated at my wash. I told him that there is a gas station right up the street that he could use, but of course, he said he couldn't wait that long. Anyway, he ended up leaving threatening me the entire time because I must have offended him or something by telling him he couldn't do that in my place of business.

What is wrong with people in this country? Does anyone teach their children respect and what's right and wrong anymore? I just want to load up all my trash from the car wash for the day and take it over to THEIR house and dump it all over their yard and see how they like that. I really needed one of those sweet old ladies telling me how she drives clear across town to use my wash today.

Lighthouse, I feel your pain. Part of the problem is that people are not taught basic civility anymore. When I was in school...oh so many years ago, we were taught the basics and citizenship, and how our government works. Now their heads are just packed full of mush with no responsibilities for anyone or anything. And I think it will just get worse over the next several years. Maybe you need a full time attendant just to keep the idiots from doing all the things you described.

Ditto to everything already said. I'm so wore out on jagoffs that feel they can do anything to anybody else's property. I love this business, but I hate about 5% of the "customers". They cause 95% of my issues! If they did not exist my washes would look better, run better and I would make more money. I keep finding grease smeared on my walls. A real pain in the butt to clean. I want to find the person and coat his mobile home with grease. I feel your pain.

Ok, you're story made me laugh. Good to know I'm not the only one those things happen to.

Here's one for you....I keep my security cameras up on my computer at home. Sunday evening it was raining, but yet there was a black BMW sitting in one of my bays. I didn't think much of it, other than to check the cameras every now and then. I didn't see anyone around for about an hour, then I noticed someone sitting in the driver's seat. I figured he was eating a sandwich or something, and I didn't have any way to go push him out without taking a 15 minute drive up to the wash. Another hour goes by, it's starting to get darker outside and the cameras are able to see clearer into his car. Guess what he was doing....that's right....pleasuring himself. Right there in his car! My wife and I watched for a bit, contemplating on calling the cops. She voted no, I voted yes, but of course she trumps me so I didn't call. 3.5hrs into his visit there, he finally finishes up (very obvious) and leaves. Of all things to see at the wash, and I get to see a big fat guy polishing his rocket.

3.5 hours, Jesus I'd think 3.5 minutes would be plenty of time. Was he reading directions or something? A good reason to add a speaker and be able to "chat" with them.

I told my wife that was some extreme pleasure time. Figured he probably rubbed the darned thing off! (no pun intended)

Reviewed parts of the video, looks like he had a bottle of lube for assistance. What I want to know, is why in the car? why at the wash?

You'd of had to call a doctor in another 30 minutes. I'm impressed. I keep promising my wife I'll hang on, but alas I'm a two minute wonder....

This conversation is going downhill, and I'm not helping it....

What I want to know is, why do such a thing in a BMW? Why not an old pickup truck or something? Jeez...what a waste!

See...that's why I posted that story. Someone will always come up with something else to turn my frown upside down.

I got a call today from a kid who wanted his money back because the automatic wash did not get all the mud out of his wheel wells. I explained that it is not designed for heavily mudded trucks to come completly clean and that he should have used a SS bay first. He said the was not that muddy. I checked the video and he had enough mud on the truck that you could not determine what color the truck was before entering the automatic. I always get these kinds of call on the long 3 day weekends, Stupid seems to come with these weekends for some reason.

I love it when a heavily-mudded truck driver complains that my $5 didn't get it clean.

At my wash, I would have remotely recorded some comment or played "Beat It" by Michael Jackson thru the loudspeakers :)

All you need to do is connect you camera pc so a PA amp and some in bay speakers and leave it one. Then using PCAnywhere or VNC, you log into it and transfer the message and play it. I don't know how many times I remotely ran off some of these idiots! Its great to watch!

Or you could've played 'Whip It' by Devo or 'Business Time' by Flight of the Conchord.

Update on this customer. Sunday evening he returned, same car, same bay, and started the same activity once again. 30 minutes into it (wanted to make sure he was good and 'engaged' in himself) I called the cops. My wife and I sat there in front of the computer at home watching the cameras and waited for the cops to arrive. In about 10 minutes they showed, one cop walked into the bay and caught the guy 'red handed'. They cuffed and stuffed him away. I ran up to the wash to talk with the cops, they said they got him for public indecency and a couple other things. Don't know if I'll have to go to court or not, but if I do, it'll be hard to keep a straight face!

Just thought I'd give you all the update to close the loop on this perp. :)

Yesterday, one of our preppers flagged me over to see this little boy wiping a towel across the dirty hood of his mother's car. The Mother was oblivious while she was vacuuming out her car.I walked up and told the little boy that we have guys that will wash the car. Thankfully there were no scratches.
