Nine times out of 10 when I send someone a bill for cleanup, it never gets paid, and I really don't expect to. As much as anything it's a way to get them to stay away without actually telling them to stay away. This is only done with the most aggressive abusers.

A couple of weeks ago a large Tulsa company's 2 employees, Goober and Gomer, came to my wash and proceeded to violate just about every policy we have posted...and some that I hadn't thought of yet. To top it all off, they took my hogshair Bug Brush from in front of my ACW and used it to scrape the heavy mud off their truck in the self serve bay to save some money, then hid it around the back of the building where IBA customers couldn't use it (I spent 30 minutes watching video to find it myself). The Bug Brush has signs that clearly state that it's for auto bay customers only...and in spite of what some have said, I haven't had much problem at all with self serve bay customers using it.

Anyway, I emailed pics of Gomer and Goob doing their dirty deeds, along with an invoice for $185 and never expected to hear from them again. Got an email for corp in Tulsa this morning, apologizing and saying my check is on the way.

I contact the companies, they always pay. They don't need the grief, I inform them that legal action is next. You have proof, they will pay without a minutes thought. I will drag a moron into small claims court too, when they get served by a Sheriff, which I always do, vs the certified letter, it gets their attention.

I don't know that I'd want to follow through on Small Claims Court for a $400 invoice, but it might make a good bluff. What is the downside of me filing a Small Claims suit then backing away if the bluff fails?
