It Does scare me. Last fall at supper time on the way home from the wash on a saturday night a 20 yr old guy with a .28 level -blew a stop sign and hit me at close to 60mph. My dodge stratus lost most of the front end of the car and spun me around as he rolled twice. What bothered me the most was that i had just dropped off my daughter 10 min. before and if i had been three feet further ahead we would have been t-boned and never survived. Airbags and

Ok watched it anyway.
I have no use for or sympathy for drunk drivers. None. If I see a guy tip a beer on the road as he passes me, I dial 911 and hope his life is ruined before he ruins someone else's life. Saw a guy at my ACW with a beer between his legs, called the local police.

I think most of us are guilty of talking on our cell phones while driving. Although I do it a lot, I wish KY would enact a hands free law. I don't have much faith in our govt. here though. They passed a seat belt law a few years back and rescinded the motorcycle helmet law almost simultaneously...idiots.
Georgia just signed into law a tough texting and cell phone bill that goes into effect July 1. Drivers under the age of 18 lose their license for 90 days for hte first offense, a year for the second. Fine for the first offense for those over 18. Hope they enforce it.

I've caught a number of people at the wash sitting in their car or truck and drinking. Every one of them lied and tried to hide it. I'm not talking about beer either, but hard liquor. I guess their wives don't let them drink at home, so they down a pint of rum and then drive home.Red Baron said:

There is a saying among kart racers when a noobie askes if it's ok to buy a $79 helmet: If you have a cheap head, then a cheap helmet is ok.
As dangerous as motorcycle riding is anyway, with the lousy drivers we know are on the road, I can't imagine why they won't wear a helmet.
Course, usually when I say this someone retorts: Wait, don't you fly ultralights?
I have the same feeling about seat belts. I have heard the argument that they restrict movement and are a pain in the a$$ but the statistics pretty much show they save lives and help prevent injuries. Almost all states have seatbelt laws now but most are only enforced if the driver has been stopped for another reason. Where I live they passed a law several years ago with a pretty stiff fine allowing officers to stop motorists for failure to wear a seat belt .

I've seen that first hand. My son was saved from serious injury by his helmet. He had just gotten the checkered flag and was heading to the pit entrance. Another racer, new to our track that day, somehow missed the flagman waving. He ran directly into the back of my sons Kart at about 35mph. The nose of the other kart hit my son in the back of the head. The helmet and neck brace did their job and my son suffered no serious injuries. We were lucky that day.
