I got confirmation today that a video on my website is fulfilling its intended purpose...which may not meet the eye at first. I have a You Tube video of me competing at a karate tournament many years ago, skunking a Korean black belt by the 5-point spread rule.

I've never used the martial arts to threaten anyone or to intimidate, but I've always been conscious of the fact that people tend to be a little less likely to confront a black belt. Oh they may posture and run their mouth, but seldom do they really want to mix it up with a guy who mixes it up for fun and money.

My theory was that every time I send a letter to some goober who went stupid at the car wash, probably a high percentage of the time they will peek into the web address on my letterhead...see the video and decide not to drive to the car wash to confront me about the letter.

I heard today that such a guy was going to "tell me a thing or two" but saw the video on my website and just decided to blow it off.

1. I think you over estimate the intelligence of the goobers.
2. The last thing I would want is a goober to know is what was in my arsenal.
3. Here in Chi town the goobers would likely employ their art to counter an adversary who had empty hand fighting skills and the empty hand fighter would easily fall to the art of "Ching Ching Pow" (Imagine the sound of racking the slide on a semi auto and pulling the trigger.)

2. My aresenal is pretty much empty now; I need to rely on avoiding the confrontation while resting on my laurels. lol
3. That's the last thing I want, but I'm well armed just in case.

This isn't Chicago, and while we have some rough dudes come by once in awhile from nearby Lubbock, we don't deal with that kind of thug much around here. Mostly gangsta wannabes for whom the least little bit of standing up for oneself sends them on to a better odds situation. And you you know from your training, merely the way to make eye contact and carry yourself around the wannabe, more often than not is all that needs to be done.

P.S. I agree 100% with your #2, and I taught that to all my students. I'd tell them: "If you are pretty sure you're not going to be able to avoid conflict, don't step out into a fighting stance and let the guy know that a kick may be coming."

Red, Maybe while they look at the website, they see a skilled person-Martial arts , and pilot, and maybe realize the person at the car wash may be right.
That kind is also intimidated by intelligence!! I liked the night shot at the car wash, and the underbody one is awesome.

Thanks, but it doesn't take that much smarts to be a pilot, and many years of roundhouse kicks to my head has lowered my IQ even more. :)
