As an exhibitor in the ICA show and others, I get a large number of offers for booth equipment to advertising offers. I received this today and happen to look closely. It looks like most of them, but look at the "contract" part.

You will barely notice that is is from a company in Slovakia.

The cost is cleverly camouflaged but is $1717.00 per year for 3 years, that would be $5151.00, which can't be cancelled, unless you send a registered letter within 10 days of submission to the Slovakia address. And it will continue after the 3 years unless you send a registered letter, again to the Slovakia address within the last 3 months of that 3rd year.

Don't think that they can collect on this debt? Read more closely, They can sell your contract to a 3rd party, that would be a collection company.

What do you really get for your money. An ad in the Fairguide

No, I didn't contact the ICA, because this info is public and can be picked up at the convention center's site as well as many other places. Bottom line is that you need to be suspect of anything you get in the mail or in your emails.

I was contacted by "someone" who signed one of these (why I don't know) and started receiving collection letters. I told them they had 2 choices, pay or force them to file suit.

So Far, 2 years of collection letters and no suit filed.

There is a 3 year limit on filing a suit on you. Who needs the headaches, train your people and read stuff yourself.

In Illinois it's 10 years on a written contract. The clock starts on the date of the breach. Not the date of the contract.
