Does anyone receive discounts on chemicals or any other subsidies for advertising and displaying chemical companies logos on site or posted on websites?

The only thing I have ever seen is the chemical companies throwing free banners and cones...

Nothing as far as discounts on chemicals themselves.

I have never seen a chemical company discount based on displaying their name at the wash. Some will offer "free" signage or advertising allowances based on quarterly or annual purchases. The trend in today's market seems to be that operators produce their own marketing materials so they do not tie their business to a company but rather build their own wash brand. This makes them only dependent to the supplier for the products they purchase rather than being a part of their marketing and sales program as well. This independence gives them the ability to change suppliers without affecting any other element of their wash.

Zep Mfg salesmen are independant contractors who can set their own pricing. I use almost all Zep products and don't pay full price for any of them. They deliver for free also.

That's a unique scenario. It also doesn't really apply here since Zep isn't a well-known car care brand name like Armor-All, Turtle Wax, Simoniz, etc.

Zep does not own the Armor All brand. They have a licensing agreement to manufacture and sell car wash chemicals (not the dressing or packets) under the Armor All brand. Clorox sold Armor All to a Canadian company last year.

Ok, They own the marketing rights to use the Armor-All name in the car wash industry. Happy now? It doesn't change the fact that Armor-All is a recognizable name to the average consumer.

I wasn't trying to diss you Jon. I was just trying to clarify the relationship between Armor All and Zep. There is a mojor difference between owning a brand and having a licensing agreement.

I wasn't either, I'm just saying that quality car care products isn't the first thing to come to customer's minds when they see "Zep" on a sign.

I also noted that what you posted doesn't apply to this thread because you're not receiving a discount for marketing Zep products at your wash. You're just getting a good price because you're lucky enough to have a rep who doesn't gouge his customers on price.

They don't see a Zep sign, they see this.

I didn't pay for any signs either. Doesn't that qualify as a "discount"?:)

I sold chemicals for 10 years and gave discounts from anywhere between 15 and 30 percent depending on volume......

This post was about discounts for marketing the products the operator was using. Almost all chemical companies or distributors offer some form of discount based on volume or competitive pricing and many supply signs. None that I know of give a discount for displaying those signs.

It doesn't qualify as a discount on chemicals for marketing the product, which is what the original poster asked.
