The part where the attorney said "It is a symptom of a larger problem" from my perpective is true. They had the proper documents & happened to find a good attorney who focused on the facts. Without getting into details --- I saw a really bad situation with some similarities where an attorney used the court system to serve papers wrongfully & abused the system like that. In that case there was a contract for deed involved where there were also very significant issues with the party using the sheriff for the foreclosing eviction. It was a type of tactic to "overwhelm" in a really bad way from my vantage point. Sometimes the "tables have to be turned" before they wake up! I sometimes worry more about "white collar crime" & "abuse of power" than some of the other kind of more "blue collar" crimes.
