Had an '05 Crysler 300 go through my cloth auto with on-board dryers. These dryers are the weakest of any of my locations due to power constraints. They are four 7.5 hp. (two in center, one each side)

When moving over the roof, it pushed the roof of the vehicle downward; leaving permenant dents. Video clearly shows it. Ofcourse, I thought to myself what a pos vehicle. I have never had this happen with 16 years in the biz.

Anyone else had an issue like this with Chrysler. There clearly has to be some type of defect in the roofing system.

My 15hp blowers deflect the sheet metal on all kinds of vehicles. Never had one come out permenantly dented. How old is this car? Do you have video of what the roof looked like before entering the wash?

The dryer on our Vector makes the roof of my truck pop several times when I go through it, but it has never damaged it or any other car. It even picked up an 18" floor tile out of the back of someone's truck and blew it about three feet over the tailgate.

Can you actually see the damage happening on your video?

Yes, I can see it clearly on the video. I have cam right over auto-cashier prior to entry--there was no damage before.

It clearly buckles way inward, then pops out, then does the same on the 2nd pass. It went quite a few inches downward, so I can see why it made dents. It seems to me there should be some type of reinforcement bar on the center.

She just purchased the vehicle; it is an 2005. She has the carfax report that says no prior accident damage. It just has me sort of baffled. I have a friend that does paintless dent repair; I am going to have him look at it next week. There really is not a malfunction of the car wash system. If the dents can be massaged out, I will spring for the $50 to do it. But a complete body shop repair, I am inclined not to do. I will let her run it to her insurance company. (I think ?????)

This afternoon I had a 2007 Chrysler 300 go thru my touchless auto (same body style as the 2005). I paid close attention to the hi-pressure passes as well as the dryer cycle with 3-10 hp. blowers. The roof of the car did not appear to move at all while in the wash. It sounds like your customer’s car has a roof problem.

Like you if $50 takes care of it, I’d let it go if she promised to only use the SS at your wash. Anything more I’d let the insurance co. handle it.

It's very possible the car could have had pdr done on the roof before or some type of work. Most of the roofs are just glued to the cross braces and it could be that someone has separated the glue allowing the roof to flex much more than it should.
