So I now have my IBA, SS Bays and Petwash Tubs all on a reporting system for the last 3 months and decided to do some number crunching and come to some conclusions. So this is what I've concluded on a smallish sample...with more time I should be able to get it down to the penny.

Basically, every customer that drives on the lot is on average $7.50 in sales.

The average IBA customer spends $10, the average SS customer spends $5.15 and on average, $7.40 is spent washing a dog.

In my IBA, 35% of customers use CC cards and on average spend 4% more.

In my SS bays, 14% of customers use CC and on average spend 40% more!

In my Pet Wash, 17% of customers use CC and on average spend 50% more!

I now have a clear idea of how many cars are washed in my SS bays and how many dogs are washed in my pet wash tubs. Something I wasn't ever sure of.

Now I also understand my margin of error and there are some small issues with the way I came up with these numbers, but I am confident of the 'ballpark' results I was looking for.

What do you guys do?

I just keep track on my autocashier and token vendor.

I am still fairly new at all this and am now more completely grasping the impact of money-saving ideas, pricing services (SS, IBA, vacs, vending) and purchasing chemicals, etc.

For example, I raised my IBA prices after realizing a very high %age bought my top package.

I like to know this stuff, but I'm not sure yet how to apply it.

I do know that one day I may manage the site remotely and those figures will come in handy in keeping everyone honest.

The "more than 25%" usage of the top wash warrants a price increase rule I like.

I would work on getting customers to use their cards more in the SS and Dog wash. You stated a 40-50% increase in revenue when they do. So even if the CC cost 4-5% in fee's your a winner at 35-45%.

One of the ways we have done this at our wash is offering specials to card users, Credit or Club card users.

Here's some examples we've use;

Use your Card in the bay get a free Vacuum (Only cost me .15 cents 4 min cycle.)

Use your Card today and get a free Item from the vendor (any $1.00 vending items).

The system can be set to dispense the "FREE" product automatically after you've washed first (spent at least $5.00+).

Another Promo we used was to have customer register their Email address with last digits of their card number. Or purchase a prepaid card or WashClub Card, and ran a promotion

Use your card during the month of XX and your automatically entered to win prizes!
Gave away a Tablet, Kindle , Free car washes for the year, a few other lesser items. Sold 115 Prepaid cards (10% savings) from the dispenser and signed up 40 wash club users (wash clubs are recurring billing customer $19.95 / mo on contract. They can wash every 48 hours ).

Found that the contest was a success! The increase in business more than paid for the give away's and customer now look forward to using their cards.

Hope some of these ideas help

Most of those are difficult to implement with my current setup, but the idea of it is good. I'll need to come up with my own promo.

Thks...
