I was afraid of that. It was quite a while since I stayed there and thought maybe they had done some renovations like many others have. I don't spend much time at the hotel anyway. Last year I was at the Hilton. It has really gone to hell.
If the IP was anywhere else there would be no discussion. It's a perfectly acceptable place, but when compared to most of the resorts on the Vegas strip, it's at the bottom of the scale. Expect a Motel 6 sitting on top of a casino and you won't be disappointed.
Keep in mind that about 2/3 of the strip hotels tack on a "resort fee". The fee includes internet service and a bunch of crap no one uses. Treasure Island's is $28 per night. Pretty much all BUT the Harrah's owned places charge them. Harrah's owns Harrah's, Caesars, IP, Flamingo, Bill's, Bally's, Paris, Planet Hollywood, and Rio off strip.
Looks like room rates are creeping up. Caesars is booked. Southwest package was the best deal I could find online. Round trip direct flights and three nights at the Mirage, About $781 with resort fees. That works out to the hotel stay costing $113/night. Best price I could find on Harrahs was about $109/night.
Now to find out if there is any presentations worth paying for, or if it's expo only for me.
