High Ph, Low Ph 2 Step Wheel Cleaning

We recently took offline the whitewall cleaning and for the low low % that want the service we do by hand now.

This has me re-visiting my wheel set-up. I am still striving to clean wheels better without HF.

Since I now have an available applicator has anybody tried a high ph, followed a bit further down tunnel by a low ph for wheels? Thus, a 2 step process.

If so, what are the results and who makes such a high ph wheel, low ph wheel combination?

Most wheel cleaners are high alkaline but there are some non HF wheel cleaners on the market. You could also use a low pH presoak for the acid application. If you have a good chemical rep they should be able to help you select the best products for the job.

Make sure you use the two step process in the same order as you do your other chemical applications. if you are using a low ph presoak followed by a high pH shampoo or the other way around make sure your two step wheel applications are in the same order. If you are in a cold climate it would also help if you could heat the applications as well. It is also very important that you have an effective high pressure rinse for the wheels to remove the soils that have been lifted from the surface.

Acidic solutions are usually applied further downstream to improve drying.

Mixing causes a reaction between acid and base and heat is formed; calories or energy to get cleaning work done. So, most 2-step applications (i.e. CTA, pre-soak) are spaced close together.

If you have high-pressure wheels downstream, a tire boss should solve your problem plus you only need one chemical instead of two.

Agree but not essential.

Acid/Alkaline will work better than one chemical regardless of the tire boss. Acid works to remove brake dust while alkalines clean oily film from road soils.

Without exception the best non-acid wheel cleaner I have used is the KAADY CHEMICAL TWB, it truly cleans wheels as good as they can be cleaned, even better if you have some type of friction cleaning device for wheels.

But even without such a device it cleans supurbly at conveyor speeds of up to 160 cph.

Seen it done.

thanks guys for the replies. question: if we hit every car with a prep gun/ high ph at entrance, can i go right into a low ph wheel?
if low ph will do better so long as i get it mildly wet first maybe i should try that. the high ph alone on wheels is not cutting it here. i have tried many, still searching for the answer.

im in the midwest. if someone carried it locally i would. the freight would otherwise make it unreasonable, right?

They pay freight for qty orders. Plus TWB can be used in pressure washer, tires, wheels and body shampoo. Truly it works in all areas of the wash.
