Last year I changed the guts of my Standard Change Maker machine to the Mars kit (everything changed but the hoppers).

I also installed a device (http://www.controlbyweb.com/) to remotely pwr cycle it as the Mars unit will take itself out of service when an error occurs, even if its not jammed. So most of the time, remotely pwr cycling fixes it without a visit.

The other benefit it gave me is as follows. In the evening if I'm watching TV, I usually watch the wash with my video system. This being a long weekend in Canada, I get the usual people (likely with stores) coming to get a few hundred bucks in change as the banks are closed. This weekend I was able to shut down my machines when this was happening and remote kick off a message saying "Thank You for Visiting *******, this is just a reminder that change is for car wash use only. If you have any issues or comments, please call the number posted everywhere". So the person gets a couple of $20 worth, then I shut the machine down and they can't get any more.

I love technology sometimes!

Big Leo,

I am curious to know what the Mars kit portion total cost was & who you bought it from. I assume the labor was not that bad for the changeover if the harnesses or connectors were already pre-made etc.

I looked at the link to the ethernet relays & it seems like it could be of value for sending out a split second type of alarm to a smart phone for an extra sensitive violation.

I am thinking that the same relay connection could be done with the 600EFs also.

I had the Canadian Standard Change rep do it as they will not support the upcoming Mylar bills being issued later this year. It was about $1000 per changer. No real labor, but they put it in.

I did use a different input relay unit and hooked it up to the "out of service" lights, so the change machine will send me an SMS when its out of service. I actually have a bunch of different units that control and monitor different aspects of the wash and can be managed remotely.

I changed my rowes to mars, and had a condition where the rowe went out of
service, and was quite frustrating. They had all kinds of suggestions, but
what seemed to fix it was going to 500 bill box from the 1000. Is that the same kind of error you are fixing with the relay.

The system doesn't really give me much info on errors...but it seems its an overpay situation that is most common.

Standard changer has discontinued the System 600 validator due to the availability of parts and the increasing cost of those parts. They will continue to repair the System 600 validator as long as repair parts are available. Those of you in Canada that use the System 600 validator will have to replace your validator when the new Mylar currency is released. Standard has come out with a Mars validator conversion kit to replace the System 600 validator. The kit replaces everything but the Hopper.
