Drop Security Monitoring?

I have a twenty year old wash. I'm installing an Ooma Voip telephone system....and as I was updating the alarm system..... I realized that in twenty years, I've never had a break in. I have shock sensors in my ACW's and changers, along with motion detectors in the equipment room. Every now and then (rarely), someone will pound on the changer and set it off, but that's about it.

I'm beginning to wonder about dropping the central monitoring. The alarm could be set to dial my cell phone.....and I could take a look via video to see what's going on.

Am I wasting money with a monitoring company?

If you decide to keep it, I would renegotiate the rate. I've been a customer of my service for 7 years and they wanted to keep me. Saved about $10/month.

I bought some GE simon alarm systems a few years back for around $200 each. I put one at each location and set it up to dial my cellphone if they ever get tripped. If one is tripped it call my cell phone and I know which location is calling and it them tells me which sensor has been tripped. I can also set it to call me whenever my attendant turns the alarm on or off so I know when he comes in or leaves. I have not needed a monitor company for years.
