I surf the web way too much from my "slob" position (nearly prone, but in an office type chair). I like the monitor on the desktop, not elevated. My much classier wife sits upright like a normal human being. She has had cervical fusion and needs it elevated to aleviate her neck pain somewhat. Is there a quick-adjust monitor stand available. I've looked some, but really don't know what to call it and don't seem to get very good search results. I would like something that would adjust up and down with the push of a button, similar to an office chair, not something I would have to loosen and tighten. Anyone know of anything? We can't be the only ones out there that need something like this.

My monitor is a generic looking flat monitor, like the flat-screen TVs, HP brand.

Most monitors tilt at the base, which might be enough. As I remember your equipment was from the 70's. Maybe you need to find a Costco and see what is available today. Breakdown and buy Mary her set up. Probably a $500 laptop should be enough for her and if needed you could build her a special "desk" and you can keep enjoying your 70's stuff. You might get a new set up that will use your TV and if you go big enough, you can see it across the room.

No, no, no, my stuff is current, and I do have a laptop as well. I know monitors tilt, but I need vertical change. She can't look up or down very well at all.

I.B. Washin,

In our laundromat ... we just completed less than 10 days ago setting up an adjustable countertop megatouch video game the same as in bars. It comes with a lazy susan. When we set it up we purposely made it with an up button & a down vertical button ... with a range of 9.1 inches. That way every height of the kiddie or adult is accommodated including the ability to sit in a chair & play.

After you thoroughly exam it on my 1 hour video very recently posted you hopefully will have a pretty good handle on how we did the up & down for less than $150 ... not including labor. The pipe, pvc shroud, & switches were all used & in our inventory so there was savings there. As far as I know it is 100 % safe. The video game is basically the same as a laptop except much much heavier. I might be able to clarify on a few details once you have thoroughly looked at it on the video.

Mike, you forgot to include the link. Pat, buy another monitor and place it on a higher shelve than yours. She can plug her laptop into it.

Pat, All these links should work. It is 31 minutes into the video where the up & down platform is for the video game. Having thought about it a bit more, you would need an air compressor for it to work so the other alternatives suggested are probably better. Bill's suggestion seems to make the most sense. The optimal height for your wife on one shelf & an another shelf close by where a person could easily move the laptop to another optimized height .... let's for yourself.

You forget, IB didn't want to have to "move" to raise or lower it :)
I thought he wanted something he could adjust easily like, as he said, an office chair where you push a button, position it to the height you want and release the button to lock it (without loosening/tightening anything). What I linked is even easier because it's countered with spring tension and can be moved easily by hand. I've seen one like what I linked, and it's really nice and works well.

Why not put a rope and some pulleys to the ceiling, with two "loops" at the right height, and just put it in one "hook" or the other?

The Samsung I have raises up and down 4". Not a fixed position like the one from Sam's club.
Seems the Staples mount is the answer for his problem.

Bill, you've really been a lot of help . Since you have sold the forum you seem to have too much time on your hands now. Get off your a$$ and get a job :D
