I am attaching a picture of my current coin box. I am seriously considering adding both bill acceptance and cryptopay credit card acceptance. I know one option is to add a second bill acceptor box and then add the credit card swipe to that. Or I could just buy an all in one and have them together. Any pros or cons for either direction? One thing that I was wondering was if there was a way to have a coin box that would accept codes or some kind of way to allow fleet billing, give out free washes etc. If there was, that would be a reason to replace the whole coin box. Another reason is that my quarters are always wet when I take them out. I'm not sure if a different coin box would make a difference as the current boxes are installed right in the middle of the bay so they always get some spray during a wash. I have a swipeNclean at my other wash that serves that purpose, but I would not add it to this wash. Just looking for something similar. Thanks.

I would definitely replace the box. The only "con" to doing that would be the expense.

I added a seperate box with Bill acceptor

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HPBxcHLP3mg&list=UU2oDMe1Aklko_tcNnsQJJaA&index=3

Aded the Cryptopay to this box. Did that instead of using existing box for a few reasons.

Existing box was not secure enough for bills.

If they attack the box to get at the bills only the bill box is messed up.

A lot less headache and cost to add the box.

More room for the swiper to be used.

Don't know about keypad use.

Your add on box seems perfect for my setup. Where did you buy it from and how much? Cost is a major con for replacing the whole box, so unless I would be getting a great benefit from doing it, then add-on would be the way to go. When adding a bill acceptor, did you have to make any changes to your timer? I have dixmoor 7's in mine. Thanks.

Here's another option http://www.idxinc.com/carwash/wickets.htm for fleets and such.

They also have a cool vault...electric lock so there's no keyhole to tempt the scumbags....and no keys to keep track of. Push a momentary contact switch to start a 5 minute timer in the equipment room. Then, start a bay timer, select rinse, and the vault unlocks.

And, move the meterboxes to the end of the bay walls with the vault on the endcap, facing the entrance...less chance of them getting sprayed by customers...fewer wet coins...one vault for every two bays. Mount the meterboxes back-to-back on the wall and have a brick mason build out the wall to make them recessed instead of surface mounted.

Yeah, you'll have to move the conduit/control wiring, too. But, the result will be awesome!

current price $689.00 with the Bill acceptor. I did ad A thermosat and heater for these boxs to keep them ice free.

I had Dixmor upgrade some of my LED 7s to the current version. Thta is needed for cryptopay. Forgot what version is minimum for cryptopay. Upgrade not needed for Bills.

I bought 4 as an experiiment. Within a month I ordered 4 more. It was nice to pull Bills instead of quarters.

We actually added the cryptopay swipers directly next to our existing coin box. It saved us the expense of adding a new coin box. We also have noticed an uptick in cc acceptance due to the fact that it is NOT on the coin box. We may be the exception. This from customer comments.

Your coin boxes look like a mix of an Adams coin box and a Monorail vault.

A little ugly but it gets the job done. If you want to save money upfront, install the cc system on the wall first. If you like the results, then decide if you need a new coin box.

You should have version 7.36 for the dixmor timers.

I'm sure that most of my timers have old software. What is the best way to have them upgraded?

Unplug the timer, when you plug it back in the version of the software will be displayed first, if it is a LED-7 timer. The best way to get them upgraded is to send them to Dixmor.

I spoke to genesis and they told me that the dixmor timers need to be 7.32 or later in order to work. I have 7.33 firmware in all my timers. Are you sure that I need 7.36?

You can send them to Dixmor for the programming upgrade. It wasn't very expensive.

I spoke to dixmor and it is only $25 to upgrade them, but the problem is being without while they are being upgraded. I would have to send a couple at a time or something so that I can stay open.

You should have a spare timer anyway - why not buy one and send them in one at a time to have them updated?

I do have a spare of just about everything else, no idea why a timer is not one of them. Where is the best place to get a spare dixmor timer?

Btw, dixmor emailed me back but said the following: "The 7.33 firmware will work. There is, however, a problem with that version that, under just the right circumstances, the timer could jump to 99:59 and start counting down"

Anyone ever had that issue?

Check eBay from time to time for a used one, or maybe a member here might have one - it's definitely worth having a used spare since they can be repaired at very little cost compared to a new one.

I doubt you can beat Kleen-Rite on the price of a new one.

Anyone have experience dealing with Jim at Etowah Valley? I spoke to him a couple of weeks ago regarding the purchase of an add-on bill acceptor box and he said that he would email me a list of options to consider, just in case I decided to replace the whole coin box. After not hearing back, I called and spoke to him again and he said that he had forgotten to send the email but would do so asap. That was over a week ago. I have sent a couple of emails since and have not heard back. This is not the way to earn business, so I am starting to look at other coin boxes. Any suggestions?
