A friend of mine just got couple of these cameras https://www.dropcam.com/product and he’s pretty impressed. He’s got a couple in his equipment rooms and one in his winter home. Anybody else know anything about these or have an opinion.

I also have a couple of them. I had one in my equipment room until I got a multi camera wired system. I use them at home and when traveling in the motor home to keep an eye on the dogs. They work quite well. Not the best in low light situations. If you have ever setup an ip camera you will appreciate the ease of setting up a dropcam...very easy to do. I do not subscribe to their dvr service.

$30/ month is crazy high to record on the cloud.

I don't understand the appeal with over one camera just to monitor? Why not just purchase a d1 dvr unit? They basically cost the same and you could record locally? More of a pain to install yes.

This looks like it is completely opensource so there will be cheap knock offs soon. :)

Any comment on the 2way audio?...that's the only part that seem original.
