We are trying some QualChem products in our EE tunnel. Product works well and seems to have a good cost per car, but using the ultralean tips, we have an on going problem with clogged tips. Anyone have any ideas?

A. Smalller screen in foot valve at bottom of suction line
b. Nylon stocking piece around foot valve.
C. Pre dilute and use regular tip.

Have few issues with KR products.

An easy way to eliminate the fluctuations and problems with ultralean tips is to not use them. Just put a tee in front of the eductor on the hydrominder and run a second tube from the t into the tank. That will put at least 50% more water in the mix tank depending on the size of tube you use...

I also use QualChem products I have the same issue but just with high PH products.

A few years ago a fellow car wash operator gave me about 15 pails of ultra-concentrate soap and wax. He was trying to pull it directly from the pail with an ultra-lean hydrominder tip. He couldn’t get it to work right, plugged tips, inconstant ratios etc. he was totally disgusted with I, told me how crappie it was and he wanted it gone. I used it according to the label, mixed it with 10 gallons of water and had no problems using it, we used every bit of it with no problems. I guess it’s best to read the instructions on the container.

Oh, and if your system is using injectors instead of a hydrominder, just upsize the injector orifice... That will make the vacuum pressure drop, which means you can use a larger tip for the same ratio.

Thanks for all the advice. Our problem is predominantly with the Hi PH we use on the presoak, but it is the secondary product: the Q Clean: that is causing most of our issues.

Sounds like a reaction between the two chemicals causing them to coagulate. Check with your vendor to see if the suggest tweaking your ratio without risking cleaning capability.

I don't know why more people don't do this more often. So much easier then dealing with all the problems. This has worked for me for quite a long time. You can actually tip the second line side as well to get tighter controls on tip sizes as well.
