No suction on vacuums

I have Coleman brand vacuums. I have three that I took out the filter bag cleaned it and put them back in. There is no suction the motors seem to be good. What else could it be? Are vacuums always a headache??

If motors are running, then it's most likely that that rubber seal around the door is either worn or not in place. It also could be that you didn't shut the doors properly. If the rubber seal mover out of place even a little bit, it will affect the suction. Other than that, you would have to have a clog in the hose or head for it to not have suction.

Check the seals, that is the most likely and easiest to miss.

Run the vac with one of the doors open and look again. If one motor has failed, the air pulling through it will make it spin backwards. It will look like it's running.

Mep is right also check the gaskets on the electric motors mounted on top of vacuum and pull the hose off vacuum and clean out with high pressure bay wand put back together and check. 90% of time its the Door Gasket is not tight when shut or cracked

Check for lint on the wire screen under the motors. Just use a stiff brush from the underside to clean. Only other issues would be the seal on the door, seal around the motor, or bad motor.

Vacs are NOT a pain, but a great profit center.

How did you clean the bags?? If they were damp when you reinstalled they will clog up almost instantly!! As Chaz said check the screens .

As mentioned, open the upper door and check the screens. Some of my colemans have had a problem with the bags not fitting quite right. As a result, the lint goes around the bag and clogs up the screen.

To check each individual vacuum motor, just open the top cleanout door and place your hand on the underside of the screen and feel for suction there.

Make sure and clean the crap out of the filter bags. I use a stiff toilet brush to help loosen stuff. A wet bag will slow sucking power too. When the bags get real nasty, I put in my back up set, and take the dirty ones to the laundry mat and use the heavy duty washer, and then run a second cycle with the bags inside out, air dry or use dryer.

I rarely disagree with MEP but with the door open the bad motor does not turn or is that why you told him to open the door.

Also Colemans have a screen below the Motors. They can get clogged over time or if a Bag is Bad or not sealing correctly.

That's what I meant. With the door shut, the bad motor spins backwards and it looks like they're both running. With it open it won't turn and you can see that one isn't running.

I did that once. Not only did it not get the bags clean in three cycles, it left such an awful mess in the washer that I went and got towels to wipe the inside as clean as I could and ran it again empty. It also ruined the bags because after I put them back in a vac they let a lot of fine dust through. The first time after I shook them down when cleaning it, a huge cloud of dust came from under the dome when it came on.
