I've read a lot about this stuff on old car forums and magazines. It gets rave reviews. From what I have read it doesn't require a significant amount of prep. The name pretty much says it. POR = Paint Over Rust.
I called the company and they strongly advised to clean and prep is first. While it does need rust to adhere, cleaning it just removes any oils and dirt that are on it. Prepping it etches the metal and leave a better base for it to adhere to. The rust will still be there as you would have to sand that off, but it does work better with rust.
Will do. Got the cleaner in today, hope to have the prep and paint in by the end of the week. I really hope it works as expected as these beams are old and rusty.
