I have heard the new efusion is good. Have you looked at it?

Let me know about your 2.0. I have a first gen wizard and wouldn't mind picking up a 2.0 if it is cheap enough and not worn out.

I'd give washworlds new profile max a very serious look.

When retailers decide to upgrade building and equipment, the goal is not to keep up with competition but to surpass it.

So, whatever you decide to get, consider foam brushes, high-pressure wheels or brush attachment, on-board dryer and at least rain repel, ideally hot wax. People who buy this stuff also like tire shine.

Washworld’s Radiantz looks like a nice machine and modeled after Broadway and Autec.

Robert,

When you mention Rain Repel, is this an actual product, or are you referring to any of the super sealers similar to Rain X - like Weathershield?

Also with the Hot Wax - Simonize specifically, or just one of the carnauba products that has come out within the last few years?

Thanks.

I wouldn't ever buy a rollover friction unit without a top brush, foam brushes or a good support group (i.e. a good distributor). There's a reason why most new tunnels have moved to top brushes as opposed to mitter curtains. They don't work and you constantly have to clean them, since they are cloth, dirt and sand magnets. Just my two cents.

The term rain-repel is used by some folks in the carwash industry to describe products that impart super-hydrophobic properties on glass and paint. This includes Weathershield, Rain-X, etc. that does not contain any wax.

Rain-repel products have better water beading characteristics than clear-coat like Double Bond that contains silicone or drying agent that contains mineral oil.

Hot Wax, like Simonize, contains some carnauba wax which has even better water beading characteristics than rain-repel.

Actually we took out a self serve bay and added on to the building to accommodate it. So we now have a Touch Free (quiet old) 2 self serve bays then the IQ bay.

We looked at IQ's soft touch when we put our tandem in. The 3 brush hang is an intriguing system. Not quite an ugly gantry. If you like the concept and look of iq's soft touch, washworlds profile max may be right up your alley.

We just replaced a Mark VII friction machine with a PDQ Icon. It has only been open about two weeks but so far I am really happy with the wash quality, the features and the support from PDQ.

The major factors for us included manfacturer and distributor support, torque sensitivity on the brushes, thoroughness of wash, speed of wash, chemistry application. I was not able to find another machine that that offered everything the Icon does. The answer to the distributor question will vary from location to location.

The icon does offer a wheel brush along with the ability to apply chemistry to the wheels and a high pressure option. I am very happy with the wheel cleaning so far.

I believe it requires a 13.5' by 33' bay.
If you pm me, I will give you my number if you want to call. The machine is still new to me but so far I am happy with the decision.

Id be going from a touchless to a friction machine trying to drive more business to our automatic. Any ideas on that? Has anyone done so and did it help your business?

Every market is obviously very different, and has different competition in the area. We recently went from a 5 and 1 with a touchless, to a 4 and 2, with both touchless and friction. If I had to only have one IBA at a wash, it would be a touchless hands down, every single time.
